Tire Pressure for Non Kenda Tires
Looking to get some feed back from those who are running front tires other than the stock Kenda tires as to what tire pressure you are running and what type of bike you are running them on.
I have a 2015 RTL with the Hankook Ventus ES4 tires on them and the factory setting seems a bit to low for my liking.
thanks

tire brand should not change tire pressure, it is the vehicle that decides

I have found that I set my tire pressure buy keeping close watch on tire wear, and regulate my pressure to provide for the most even wear. And also, modify that according to how my Spyder rides. Very ones is different, and everyones load is different,

How old would you be if you didn't know how old you were?

I do it by feel rather than an exact pressure as the front end of the spyder is so sensitive to any change. You can tell when its right for you. Too hard and its juddery, particularly on uneven road. Too soft and it feels imprecise and 'thuds' on the uneven road.
With my Kingstars I started at 22, which I knew would be too hard. Then kept doing short test rides and adjusting it down. By 18 it was feeling ok, 15 was too soft. In the end settled for 17. Done 20k+ on those tires now and evenly worn so must have got it right:-)

I have the Federals on the front and run it at 18 PSI cold. That seems to be about the sweet spot for these tires.

Actually it is the weight of the vehicle but the design of the tire plays into it a little too.
The objective is to keep the tread in full contact with the road and to prevent excessive sidewall and tread flexing.
Theoretically, a thicker, stiffer tire should be OK with a little less pressure.
But then the OP seems to be saying that the recommended pressure seems too low ??
Wonder what exactly leads him to that conclusion.

This question has been asked so many times on this site that next to oil it may top the list. The simplest answer I've seen here is to run through some water on a flat surface and then check your wet tire marks on a dry portion of the same flat surface. Adjust your tire pressure to obtain the best tire tread contact with the flat surface. You may find, if you're running car tires, that you'll end up with 15 to 18 pounds all the way around.

Get the kids sidewalk chalk and draw a bunch of lines across each tire. Drive it 50 yards or so and look at the tires. If the chalk is gone in the middle of the tire then it’s too much pressure. If it’s gone on outside edge it’s too soft. Adjust from there.
