Looking for something for the wife. She has carpel tunnel in both wrist. Right one is worse. Docs are 50/50 weather surgery will help, so she's waiting till she can't handle the pain any longer. The 9mm Kimber solo is too much for her. Thinking a .22 is her best bet. Want her to be able to shoot the hell out of it to get familiar with every aspect of what ever we choose. Thinking a .380 would limit her trigger time.

Why not take a look at a Seecamp for her?
They're SUPER concealable, and come in .32 ACP.
That gives you a lot more punch than a .22; yet the recoil is mild!

The little Berretta and the Seecamp are virtually the same size... The former is easer to lead and fire, and the latter packs more punch!

Don't know why I didn't think of the .32acp. might be a good compromise. Thanks Bob...

Stun gun
Consider a stun gun. They make a citizen model so when you hit the bad guy with it the thing stays on for 8 to 10 seconds giving you time to run away while the bad guy is recovering from doing the funky chicken. Just drop the thing and run. It solves the problem of having to kill someone and going to court for the next year or two. Commonly known as not-lethal force. I know a number of ladies that have expressed a problem with killing someone but still want some form of protection. Stun guns pretty much fit that bill.

Looks like you can't legally protect your self with a stun gun in ny, it's illegal to
own one.

Orright, this isn't strictly addressing the firearm side of your question, but I think it is fairly pertinent! My Hand Specialist informed me in no uncertain terms that leaving a Carpal Tunnel op until you can't stand the pain anymore is the absolute WORST thing you can do with/for the condition!! Basically, he explained that because what we call 'carpal tunnel' is effectively the progressive 'strangulation' of the nerves & tendons that control your pinkie, ring, & middle fingers where those nerves & tendons pass thru the carpal tunnel in your wrist/base of the palm, the longer you leave it before releasing that strangulation, the LESS LIKELY you'll ever get a successful return to full use of your hand! And if you leave the release surgery too long, you can permanently & irreversibly lose the control & feeling of those 3 outside fingers of your hand, converting them into a useless crippled chicken claw!!
I was lucky & I got a good result. But while I was doing the recuperation therapy, I got to meet quite a few people who waited too long and despite the best possible treatment, were now left with significantly crippled hands, even post surgery that returned them some benefit & control with a reduction in the pain, simply because they waited too long.... So unless your wife is already past the point of no return & is already permanently crippled, then maybe you should find a Hand Surgeon who will do the best they can to release her carpal tunnel SOONER rather than later, cos waiting longer only reduces the likelihood of getting any benefit &/or improvement!
Good Luck!

Things are looking bad everywhere.......

If you live in NY and can't own a stun gun then you must have a permit to carry or why make the post? If not why risk it? Kalifornia is bad enough, firearm restrictions here are becoming stricter and stricter, but it's not curbing the gun violence. Gangs and crazies are the perpetrators of the majority of most all firearm homicides here. Law enforcement agencies in Kalifornia have been working overtime on gang related homicides but the crazies have been falling through the cracks. Seems like their falling through the cracks all over the country. Still it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6, but it's hell of gauntlet to have to go through.

no more punishment for crimes now-a-days.... so criminals laugh at the laws.. start hanging murderers ... I bet you will see things change rather quickly...

Check out the smith and wesson m&p 380 EZ. Sweet little gun for the ladies to carry. Getting one for myself and probably the wife also you Can rack them with one finger and they are a little bigger than the kimber 380 without much recoil.

Friend recently purchased a Ruger LCP in 38 special + P. Can't believe how light it is, fires great. Nice grips. Never felt comfortable with performance of the small semi's. I know only 5 but if you're more likely to carry it 5 beats 0.
