New unsold 2016 F3T
My local dealer has a new unsold/untitled 2016 F3T SE6 in Steel Black Metallic on sale for $18,199. It was originally MSRP'd at $24,499. I know that the two year depreciation thing takes hold as soon as it leaves his showroom so I am curious as to whether or not this might be a good deal on a new ride. I'm ready to put the two wheel motorcycles behind me and go with three. The time has come in my case.

I tend to buy bikes to ride them and really don't plan on selling them until I want another. I bought a new 2014 Suzuki V Strom last year for a great price and I'm enjoying riding it. Bought our 2016 F3L this year at a reduced price and really love the thing. Save on the front end and "lose?" on the back end. Buy it and enjoy it!

NADA says the base retail value range is 13,990 to 18,410. I believe that assumes a used vehicle so I think a brand new unit sold by a dealer with standard warranty at 18,199 would be a good deal although not a smoking deal since your post-sale depreciation would kick in immediately. Of course, that is important only if you try to sell it. If not, depreciation doesn't mean a thing (unless it is totaled).
Since it isn't good riding weather in your part of the country for another 5/6 months you might be able to get him to reduce the price even further. I am sure the dealer doesn't want the unit sitting on his sales floor for another few months. It doesn't hurt to ask.

Go for the hold over model. Nothing wrong with that - and saving a few bucks!

Yes you can haggle on the price. Make a offer and see what happens. The longer it sets there the more insurance he has to pay on it and the better chance it could get scratched up but people setting on it. So go for it what can it hurt.

I would think that you could make an offer lower than the asking price, especially when you consider that the 18s are only weeks away!

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. I will give that a try.

Well four months anyhow to April. Being as motorcycles aren't really moving this time of year there's a good chance it will still be there by that time. I appreciate you input.

The way to do it is to walk in with a check for $18,000.00 to cover the Spyder Out The Door, hand it to the sales person and tell him that you are going to lunch and will be back in an hour for either the title to the Spyder or your check back.
OTD means the complete price TTL plus any misc fees.
Works like a charm...

That would be nice to do but in reality I would have to sell my current bike first in order to have that kind of cash available. I have a nice 2015 Indian Chieftain with almost 19,000 miles on it. It's a two-tone blue & cream model with fishtail tipped exhausts. The motor has stage one and two upgrades as well.10856556_757715614374161_6331968428853572484_o.jpg

Ask for the extended warranty to make it more valuable to you. Good luck.

I need to get at least $16,000 for it. I can add cash to that and offer the 17K or 18K whatever and have no payments.

That's a great price, the dealer here want $19,700 for one here. I've been watching for awhile, and have not found any cheaper than that, I'd be surprised if they come down any. I would also expect to pay another $600 freight and doc fees.

Nice Chief
I like your Indian. I have wanted one in that paint scheme. Seems like they keep all the other colors but Springfield blue only off and on. I bought my spyder as holdover and really enjoy it.

Negotiate a bit more
I bought a new 2016 F3-T with a radio a few weeks ago for $16,995, and asked for the new motorcycle discount for 90 days. See if your dealer will flex more.

What's the new motorcycle discount? I haven't heard that term before.
Any additional fees?

I had a 2014 black Chieftain with 17000 miles when I traded for my 15 RTS. I had it 2 years and miss it. They are awesome bikes, but I had a partial tear in my rotator cuff and weak knees so had to make that choice to go to 3 wheels. I do love the Spyder. So much easier to handle and is fun to ride.

It is a discount on any new items I purchase from the dealer. Normally they have a 15% when you first buy it and 7.5% discount for the next 30 days. I used it on getting a skid plate, extension on the foot pedals, etc.
The extension is very important to me since I wanted to ride it a bit before making a decision on the foot pedals and possibly new handlebars. Though I only have 300 miles on it, I drove it during black Friday, and other slow moving times. And I am still undecided on getting handlebars for a taller person.

Forgot about the fees. They did charge me $300 for title and registration, which seemed high to me. But I recently bought a car for my daughter from a dealer and faced some headaches doing the work myself, and chickened out. The car dealer would have charged me $250, so considering the extra cost for a plate, four year registration, and VIN identification, the price was somewhat comparable. Also since I borrowed money, it would be more complicated and taken more time then the car registration.

I would even go down to 16000 since the spyder is already 2 years old since the 18 model is out they need to get rid of old inventory good luck

Sixteen grand sounds like a good offer to me too. Lots more money to add things like a trunk and floorboards etc.
