My cat delete
Fabricator = one who makes stuff you don't have. Well I got the cutter out and removed a section over the outlet on my RS-S converter. You must make two cuts, so as to have room to reweld the inner plate then the outer plate after removing the material on the outlet pipe. The sound is low tone and my cost is 0 dollars.
Nice low tone and I can still hear my tunes.

Note, used a plasma cutter to remove the output pipe section. Cutting wheel used on the case so as to have a small gap to weld.

Neat idea and job. However I don't think that you get the benefits of the cat delete pipe.
There is still a lot of restriction from the angles and chambers.
Just my thoughts.

Ps - I destroyed a converter in discovering this - no regrets!

By doing it my way, the unequal header pipes are left in place. I believe the unequal pipes are in there for a reason, most likely for scavenging of cylinder gases. All i did is dump the common chamber out the outlet pipe. This was you keep the low note and not the tinny exhaust note with the replacement pipe. Combined with my flowed BRP muffler it produces a pleasing low rumble note. The common chamber allows the nice note. I will do a mountain ryde tomorrow and will report back. My RS-S now will break the rear in first gear and would not before. By using the original hangers on the cat, it will support most any aftermarket muffler and not burn out the exhaust gaskets as I have seen on cat delete pipes. More to follow after tomorrows ryde in the mountains. ......

update after 181 mile mountain ryde.
KEEPER! Response is quicker. Overall mpg 38.134 mpg over 183 miles in the mountains never been that good. Now have over 32,000 miles racked up. Exhaust note does not interfere with music. Best part, ZERO funds expended.

Nicely done and one can never argue with that price. and the results are quite impresssive...much like gutting the old smog compressors back when. They were there but all empty...

I get a deep note and lots of great comments. On weight reduction, I took it off me. 30 lbs.

Thanks old man, you da bomb. Your photos were great help on the correct place to cut. I have done an RT cat bypass and it is under testing. The test guy said it is too quiet. I am working on RT muffler flow now. Cee ya, Bill...

Any chance of an audio recording? Is the cat stainless? How thick? I've got a tig welder at home and might be tempted to do this. One last question. Would this prevent a Spyder from passing an emissions test? My guess is it would.

I used mig on mine. Welded inner layed the fiberglass down then welded the outer layer.

Hey Deer Slayer .... So a year on .. what are the ups and are there any downs to this modifications of your cat?
Amazing ... been thinking long and hard about doing this same type of thing for quite some time.
My thoughts were and still are, why not remove the entire cat function completely from the converter by opening the can up even further? ... I'd then shape a piece of offset tubing and somehow work that piece into the original set up, then reseal the can again by re-welding .... [which I guess would have to be MIG in these circumstances] ) .. I'd remove a massive amount of weight and those huge temperatures as well because of the cat function being removed. The added bonus would have to be a great free flowing exhaust. I suppose I could even play with the idea of placing an inline baffle there somewhere and also remove the same restrictions from the stock muffler .... Dunno about that last part, but the first is definitely doable !
