Cool. ..
Although the cost of adding the transmission could slow things down and the space needed. They do have the lower hp models they could offer at least in the V-twin's like the ones used by aprilla motorcycles (140+)...Sadly I am past the "wanting more horsepower than I could ever use" stage...

That is a marine motor. Same issue as with the 255HP skidoo motors.... They produce that power but you have to remember that they use fresh cool water from lakes/oceans/etc to cool the engine... Something that would be very difficult to do on a Spyder without adding a bunch more cooling.

221 kW converts to 296 "standard" HP, and the 300 metric HP multiplied by 0.9863 equals 296 "standard" HP. I guess metric horses are about 2% smaller than U.S. horses .

300 horses, versus 296: close enough for what we do!

It uses antifreeze and a heat exchanger in the ride plate to act as a radiator to cool the motor. Only fresh water to cool the exhaust.

I don't think that is true anymore they use closed loop cooling systems on the newer skis thus eleminating the moss plugging of the tubing and the salt corrosive issues

Yep, been closed loop since 2003 when they first went to the 4-tec. 👍

Hmmmm......I think that in order to increase the power to that extent will need at
least a tougher clutch, output shaft bearings and final drive bearings on the primary and rear pulleys.
I wouldn't want to put that sort of available grunt through the standard gearbox either. Just my twopence worth!

It's soooo pretty
