Default 60 miles from home. Bad key code

I only have 600 mikes on my F3. Stranded 60 miles from
home. Bad key code. Waiting for wife to bring 2nd key. Doubt if it works. If not I'll call rode side assistance. Ugh

Is it an original BRP key? If so pull the key out, walk away 100 feet , wait 2 minutes, walk back and try key again. This may work if it is the original BRP key. If not LOL.

Disconnect positive cable from battery. Move cable over and touch negative post to discharge system. Then it should crank. This method can be used if taking a 10 minute walk doesn't work. The alternative is to wait 24 hours for the system to discharge itself. Good Luck.

Well, had it towed home. $400 bill with $200 paid by warranty. Dealer isn't open on Monday so it will be Tuesday before I can get it in. Hope it starts and I can ride it over. If not, I'll borrow a trailer. Frustrating!

Contact BRP Customer Service and BRPCares on this forum. He has stated that BRP will take care of the additional towing costs due to the failure of their defective design.

Sounds like the "D.E.S.S. error". I started a thread" D.E.S.S KEY CODE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Their is some excellent ideas, helpful tips on that thread about the D.E.S.S. module.

The D.E.S.S. module is under warranty, and open up a case with BRP.
    Keep us posted!

    Good Luck!

If you think this is a joke wait till it happens to you. Seriously by pulling the key, getting out of range and waiting a bit gives the system a reset (Dess and BRP programmed key) The key code and the DESS communicate electronically before you are able to start your Spyder. This has worked often for many on here as simple as it sounds.

I do appreciate the humor though!

Well according to the BRP Representative
You must have been parked to close to other Spyders or a high Wireless, EM, or RF field surrounds the highway.
Next time you travel make sure you stay far far away from those high tension lines

But not to worry as BRP has all this under control!

    Sure they do!

What worked for me was to turn the key on and then back off. Do not let the bike turn off as you turn it off and on about five times not letting the bike reboot.

    Unhappy Never!!!

Never is a word I seldom use for lots of reasons.
I NEVERleave the key in the when parked in my garage.
If it's true that that the "system" and key comunicate with power OFF----Well ----- this could this be part of this whole DESS problem. I don't know But---it seems that no one else does either.

Try this: Turn on/off immediately "DO NOT LET THE SYSTEM SHUT DOWN" do that 4 to 5 cycles . This is on the D.E.S.S. KEY CODE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thread that I started on 8/13/15, By, Deanna777.

I got the above from my dealership.

I only remove the key if I'm out someplace otherwise it lives in the ignition switch. So far so good.

Called dealer this morning and they said to bring it right over they would get right on it. Borrowed a trailer and drove 45 miles to the dealer. Arrived at 11:30 am. I told them it was the Module and they said they had to check it and they would know in about an hour. Met a friend for lunch and returned to the dealer at 2. They hadn't checked it but said it would be next. Waited awhile and they finally concluded they would have to order a module. The sales guy had told me they had them in stock. Had I known they would have to place an order I would have left earlier. So, hopefully it gets fixed before the weekend.

Reminds me of watching a Space Shuttle launch. Seconds before they light the rocket engines, the computer says no and everything stops and everybody waits.

One of the worlds most expensive aircraft, built by the lowest bidder...Maybe NASA was really having DESS failures, since we know how often Space Shuttles get stolen. Probably about as often as a Spyder.

    Default What the Hell

I really like my 15 RTL but this kind of nonsense really pisses me off. Key issues, steering, alignment, shocks not up to task, oil changes take an act of congress. What the hell is this....
'I tell ya if someone asks if they should buy a can am spyder. I will say no don't get one. Unless you have a lot of patience for nonsense. And i´m not just not getting this from the forum either. I met a couple of people with these kinds of issues pointing to engineering don't give a care. The dealers don't add to customer satisfaction either.

I've had my Spyder for close to a year and ALWAYS leave the key in the ignition when parked in my garage, and have NEVER had a DESS issue. So there goes that theory.....
