What cool thing has happened to you because you were riding a Spyder?
Karen went to the grocery store and this 30 - 40 something woman came up to her and said "That is an awesome bike. Can I take a picture of it?" She kept going on and on about how cool it was and how great it looked. So she told her to get on the bike and she took a picture of her sitting on it. Made her day!
Another time while Dave was sitting at a light, someone kept honking at him. He finally saw who it was and it was a stranger giving him the thumps up.
Was wondering what other cool things have happened to you all while driving your Spyder.
We had just gotten the 2010 RT, and I was out for a ride...
At a fuel-stop; this older gentleman walked up to me, and asked me how I liked the new RT?
After some initial small-talk; he told me that he worked for one of the outfits, that had been subcontracted to develop the front suspension.
Getting it to handle the same: empty, or fully-loaded; had been a major hurdle to overcome...
He also said that if Bosch hadn't come to the rescue with the V.S.S., the bike never would have seen the light of day!
A few years ago a friend of mine and I were on our way to our first Spyderfest.
It was about 10 o'clock at night and I was leading because I had the GPS.
We had been ryding since 3:30 am at nearly the end of a thousand mile trip in one day.
I got us hopelessly lost just outside of Springfield.
I pulled over, put the fourways on and my friend mrfats did likewise.
I had just gotten off the spyder and was walking back to discuss our situation when a police cruiser pulled behind us with the red & blue lights flashing.
Oh cripes, what had I done?
I of course was paying no attention to speed limits.
Mrfats & I would probably spend the night in the Springfield lockup.
The two Spingfield officers were out of the cruiser.
"You fellas need some help?" asked the officer.
We explained our situation and I asked for directions to the hotel.
"Well it's kinda complicated, just follow us."
So, with the red & blues still flashing, we followed the cruiser about four miles to the hotel entrance way, waived to the officers and began our first spyderfest with a police escort right up to the door.
Last fall my husband came to pick me up at the gym and while we were getting ready to go, a boy of about 8-9 and his mom came out to the parking lot. This kid stared at our spyder and kept whispering to his mom. Finally, she asked if her son could come closer and take a look. My husband said, absolutely! When he came over, Rod told him to get on. This kid looked at my husband like he was Santa Claus. He climbed up on the seat and Rod showed him everything. Then his mom took a picture of him holding onto the handlebars and he was so excited to show his dad. We could hear him talking about it across the parking lot.
The day we bought our used 2014 RT Limited, we met the previous owner at a Wendy's to make the deal and put it on the trailer to bring it home. While we were standing there talking, a waitress came out of the restaurant and said "I just had to come out here to see this bike up close. I love these bikes. They look so Cool."
The coolest thing that has happened to me is the great friends I've made. I've met the greatest, kindest, most caring, wonderful and funny people . . . all because I bought a Spyder.
I bought my first Spyder in November 2007
I was stopped by the police 3 times the first day
They just wanted to see and talk about the bike
since then I can not even remember all the people that want to talk and take pictures of my bike
now I ride with my 2 biker chicks and the pictures never stop
Life is great
We have had many a stranger walk up and ask about our RT-S. Had it for going into 3years! Love it when it happens. Thumbs up and hand waves to other bikers but high thumbs up and fist pumping to an from fellow Spyder riders!
Spouse and I were doing a ride up Turnagain Arm, one of Alaska's most scenic drives.
We were wearing our riding vests that day (an important part to the story). We pulled into one of our usual stops. Were impressed that there were a dozen or so HD's parked out front.
In we go to find a table overlooking the parking lot and the Arm. In the bar part, was the local contingent of Hells Angels, decked out in their colors. I thought Oh, Oh! We did get a few looks.
Turned out to be a benign encounter. The Angels left shortly and as they went out to the parking lot, our 's got a good look over. A couple of the Angels actually gave us a thumbs up. The Spyders were the 08 and the 09 decked out in full trim. Pictures in a couple of other current threads.
The motto: You meet friendly riders in Alaska.

On I-10 on the way to Houston, a mini van slowly goes by my wife and I. Then I notice that the van is slowing down. I look in the window and I see kid with an iPad taking a video of us. I take both hands off the handle bars and give two thumbs up. Made his day.
Whilst stopped at pedestrian crossing, somebody comes up to my Spyder and kisses the front. I was just glad that they didn't start getting intimate with my Spyder because that would of worried me. I think the person was drunk though.

The Coolest thing that has happened to me since I have owned a spyder is:
no matter where I go people ask me questions about the spyder,
and I have met some of the nicest people who own spyders thru this site, have been to 2 spyder events ( Spyderfest, Spyderquest). It has opened up an other door for me, being able to explore the country/and seeing parts of the country that I have not seen before. Deanna

My very first time at the gas pump (recently - I'm a newbie), a HD guy in his 80s walked right over to exclaim how he'd never seen one in person. He was very complimentary.
Also, my blacksmith, seeing it in my barn, was shocked and speechless. She thought they were for disabled people! Now she can't wait to go for a ride with me when our weather breaks.
I am a member of an art gallery coop. On the days I work I ride my 2013 RT to the gallery. I spend the day watching people come by and admire my ryde. Every time we are getting gas someone comes over and ask all the questions. My hubby rides BMW motorcycles (he owns 3 now) and when we go for rides he loves the attention my Spyder gets. He tells everyone he gets to ride on the back because I won't let him drive it. I have had been asked if people can take pictures more times than I can recount. Riding a Spyder makes me feel like a celebrity.
