Isn't the purpose of the sound panel to reduce the sound? When you removed it, how much louder did your Spyder get?

I really didn't notice any more sound than what the JT air filter added and that is under heavy throttle I am just an old hot rodder though so I like a little more noise

Very nice...
looks like that would give you some great air flow. Don't think it would affect the sound much if at all. How does it work for the heat...??

WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL - MAYBE
I have the 1330 now and have it stripped down doing " FARKLING " etc. but still like to go on short errands etc.....The 1330 is much quieter than the 998 imho , and without those panels mine is definitely louder........and I would imagine that it passes more heat to the rider....................Mike

After over a year without the panels I actually think the body panels are cooler course I did the exhaust wrap at same time.

The 2013 air scoops ($67) a pair removes that panel, and gives you a new bracket for support. On my 14, I don't notice any heat reduction as I didn't have a heat issue before, but it just makes sense to add more airflow over the engine.
