This makes it virtually impossible for us to get to the Bayou.
Looks like we're going to miss it this year. We are just not prepared to have to drive all the way from Houston, up to Shreveport just the cross the border.
Then no telling what obstacles lay in wait getting from northern LA to down the Bayou.
Throw out the tools and Mama's curlers and pack the inflatable! Or at least take some life jackets and "Gater" repellant. Severe T-storms are forecast for WED-SAT. Might as well pack the lightning rods also. Had I'd known it was going to be this much fun I should have left with Joe and Ann Monday morning when they left our house. I'm always up for adventure and a challenge.
I hope it is a success and all have a great time. See everyone at Spyderfest.
Jack

The news here is constantly changing. (I live just 1 1/2 aways from Riceland). Earlier this week they said it was going to be like 80% chance of thunderstorms for the weekend but just now I watch the news and they said it was going to be 40% (i think) for Saturday now. I'm always trying to figure out the weather here. Even though they say it is going to raining I really don't trust it. I just stay up to date with the weather and go from there. Now I can understand if you are trying to come into La from Tx. Thats iffy, but I think it will eventually be ok in my honest opinion. But then again, I just have to drive west on 90, for about 1 1/2 hour, to Houma and get off the exit and I'm there. I wish it would be better weather for the weekend, but I already told the wife that I am going! Rain or no rain! I some some Gortex from when I was in the Navy that I will take with me. Now not sure if she will want to go but if I have some Gortex to let her wear I'm sure she will go also. I just want to ride a good distance for the first time and meet some fellow spyder owners! And I deffinantly want some crawfish!!! I hope it turns out to be good and hope most of you make it and if not I'm sure everyone will understand!
Not looking good folks! The weather advisory map on Intellicast.com shows almost all of Louisiana north of I-10 is flooded. And it has nowhere to go but south. The parishes north of New Orleans are flooded. That's where I lived for 15 years. The problem in Louisiana is that is so flat that when you get inches and inches of rain dumped on it can't run off fast because there aren't any gullies and canyons to channel it downstream. They're showing 80 to 90% probability of thunderstorms in the Houma/Raceland area through Saturday. If it were me coming in from anywhere West and North I'd be seriously thinking about scratching the trip.

Sailed thru Dallas, sunny and dry. A little humid, but great so far! Shreveport for the night, then in shortly after lunch. Bug splat! Maybe the rain will wash it off! See ya there! Joe
I was just looking at the FB event page S on the Bayou. Sure wish I was going with you all and hope the weather stays good! The Hwy 22 ride is some mighty fine pretty country. I traveled it a few times between home and work. I lived about a 1/2 mile north of Hwy 22 between Ponchatoula and Springfield. My daughter lives in Houma, just south of Raceland.
