Snow or trailer?
Hello all! I just bought my first Spyder, it's a New 2015 RS. They are putting it together as we speak. I currently have a Victory Hammer and I've test rode a Spyder last summer, loved it. I live in upstate NY and I need to get it home. The roads are wet, salty and pretty much bear of snow, maybe a patch here and there. Snow Flurries is the forecast. I live about 20 miles from the dealership. I got suburban/country roads mostly 45 MPH.
Do I pay $100 or ride it home?

If it was just cold with dry roads, I would say bundle up and ride. With the roads being wet and salted, pay the $100 and have it trailered to your home. Or maybe just let the dealer hang on to it for a few days and see if the roads clear up.

the salt will only hurt if you don't wash it when you get home

No salty roads for me.
Too many cracks and crevices for salt to get in, too hard to clean out, and I don't want any rust on mine. Slick roads would not bother me but the salt does. I would rent a trailer if you can and have it hauled home.

Let them deliver the nu baby.
ps, a sawbuck is $10.00

Trailer it. You'll be sorry if you don't. There are no upsides to riding it home.

So would you ride you Victory on the salty roads you are facing right now? I thought not let the dealership deliver it.Best money you'll spend.

Hopefully they will trailer it in an enclosed trailer? They use open trailers here in the Atlanta area.

Pm me I'm in brockport
Don't waste your money getting it delivered. I'm assuming you got it a filers? I'm in Brockport and I'll go pick it up with you on my open trailer for free. Consider it your welcome to the spyder community gift! I have a trailer with all the proper tie downs just let me know.

Oh Brentec! I really appreciate that generous offer! I Love the people at Filers. They worked it out for me and are delivering it tomorrow. After seeing it new in the box, there was no way I could get it salted up.

That's good news
Glad it worked out, and welcome to the spyder family. Now you just need to get your reservations to spyderfest in April and join our caravan to Missouri.
Always glad to add another local Ryder to our list.
Ps, seeing that it is totally disassembled, you should call and see if they'd throw a battery tender pigtail on it while it is easy to do.

+1 on the pigtail. Have them do it while its not assembled vs. you having to take panels off when you first get it. And normally i would have said save the $100 and ride it home if cold or even rain but snow or black ice is another story and probably not worth it. Hopefully you wont have to wait 3 months to be able to ride it! Congrats and welcome to spyderville.

I took that advice, pig tail is getting put on

Pay the $100 and have the DEALERSHIP DELIVER IT!!!!!!!!! When spring gets here, you will be ready to ride.
The salt will ruin the spyder.
If I was in your predicament I would let dealership keep your spyder until SPRING!! Deanna

Wise choice
I am from the Oswego area. We have both seen the damage salt can do. Wet salt-slush will find its way in to places you would never be able to clean. Nothing but bad would be the result.
