Default Differences between 2014, 2015, and 2016 Spyder RT-S trikes?

I have pretty much decided that if a buy a Spyder it will be a 2014 or later model with the 1330 cc engine. My question is - are there any real differences in the 2014, 2015, and 2016 Spyder RT-S models?

    Thanks for your help,
    Wayne

Pretty much just colors. Don't know for sure about '15s and '16s but there some USB ports in the mix somewhere. The '16s have a shorter radio antenna than the other two years.

Pretty much color choices and lower prices on the older models. I still love my 2014 RT-S. Antenna size and ports for electronics should not weigh to heavily in the mix for most.

They changed the master cylinder reservoir in 15 or 16 to one with a dingle cap. Nicer design but it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me.

Is it the '16 that doesn't make you wait for nanny to boot up before starting the engine? Or the '17. If all else was equal, that'd be a feature that could decide it for me.

I like my 2014RTS-SE6 with the 1330 Ace Triple engine!

    I have 16,000 happy miles!

Also, you have the "POWER" when you need it "( Example: if you ride 2-up, and towing a trailer, going up hill, you have plenty of power to do that. A twist of the throttle power is there!)

I am in agreement with Ruralgirl, I had a demo of this the other day. For me anyway, there is a HUGE difference
between having it start when you want it to. Or having time to brush your teeth, tie your shoes and whatever else, before it FINALLY decides you're qualifies to light the fires. It is the SINGLE worst item of my 2014.

The shorter antenna on the newer bikes, the new USB hookup for the sound system, and the brake master cylinder configuration is about the largest part of the changes.

Right out of the gate? I can start my 2015 RT-S without waiting too, as I think we all can, after I've shut her down and am starting up again after just a few minutes. But for my first start up? Never. I wonder if they made the change partway through the 2015 manufacturing run.

I have a 15 RTS-ES6, I have to wait...unless off for a few minutes....I really don't see the big deal, I switch it on put my helmet on, buckle hit the mode button hit the starter. In my opinion I wouldn't start it any sooner anyway ?

Yes, that is correct on my 2015 RTS-SE6. As for the electronics, just get everything Bluetooth connected with it (iPod, Helmet, etc.).

It's nice to save eight seconds when you turn on your Spyder, but if turn it on twice per day, every day of the year, that's about 97 minutes. You'd be getting ready for at least a third of that time (let's say three seconds), anyway, so in the end let's say about an hour a year. For me, an hour a year might be worth $100 to $200 at the most. I wouldn't make a decision that weighs that particular feature very heavily.

On my 2015 I have to wait. I know because my friend just bought a 2016 and does not have to wait. By some of these posts it sounds as if BRP may not have been consistent with this change.

Default Differences between 2014, 2015, and 2016 Spyder RT-S trikes?

Ruralgirl, Yes it will start anytime regardless how long it sits. Get on bike, turn on key ,hit mode button, hit starter button.....starts. I've been taking off and the dash isn't even completely fired up yet. Bought it this spring as a leftover 2015. Found out it would probably start from a post on a Canadian website so my buddy and I tried it and bang , it does start. The tech's at our 2 dealerships didn't even know you could start that way, said it wasn't possible. Give it a try. safe riding

On the 2016 turn the key push the mode button then start. There is no delay. I've heard on the 2014 and 15's if you turn the key, press the mode button twice, then hit start there's no delay. have never owned a 14 or 15 so I cannot confirm if the hearsay is true
