Have to ask....
Does the engine crank/turn over but not start or do you only hear a click or nothing. if an se/automatic is the kill switch off and are you stepping on the brake..?

You have made sure that you have your foot on the brake pedal while you're trying to start it haven't you?? If for whatever reason it didn't get to neutral when you shut it down or the clutch isn't feeling up to letting you start for some reason, then having the brake pedal pressed becomes an essential thing!!
With that in mind & practice, if you get to the 'press mode button' screen so you push the mode button, get the normal dash screen & lights, but then get nothing when you hit the starter button, the next thing to check is the Kill switch - is it in the Run position or the Kill position? Regardless, operate it a couple of times anyway, try it in both positions, flick it back & forth a bit; I have had one (not on a Spyder tho) that somehow got gunk inside it & the first flick still didn't make contact, it took 2 or 3 flicks for it to click!!
Still no go, then check the battery condition, cables, & connections, actually take the connections off & make sure the posts & seats are clean, same deal with cleaning the cable ends, BOTH ends, then connect them back up firmly - they've gotta be clean & tight.
No go there, stick the battery on a boost unit or try jump starting it. If it still doesn't start after all that, you really start getting into the area of visiting a Dealer or knowledgeable Spyder/motorcycle mechanic - sorry!
Good Luck!

How long has it been since you last rode it? Do you keep it on a battery tender? Put a charger on the battery and let it get up to full charge, if it still has the same problem test the battery. It's not uncommon for a 3 year old battery to die.

Does the mode button screen go away?? If not something is wrong with button or wires. One member has reported a thief trying to steel his tank bag cut his wires to no avail but still damaged the bike. Hope is not the case,
but if the mode button fails its as bad as the kill switch. We need more info plz

If I understand you correctly and that the mode button does not work. The left handlebar controls may have become unplugged. Do the lights come on for the command center buttons when the key is on?
Defect in the handlebar controls and needs to be replaced. If so needs to be plugged into BUDS to confirm.

Make sure the Kill Switch (red switch on right side of handle bar) is in the Run position...

Got it back home after this SPEED-PROG was replaced. It started up when I went in to pick it up. Started a couple times at the shop before leaving. Drove it 40 miles back in the rain. Parked cleaned it up. Two days later weather cleared so I went to run a errand and S.O.S. Nada, Same screen, same story, back at the shop.
I have had this problem from day one. Same thing as happened at least 8 times and had to be tow to the shop everytime. That is $400.00 in deductible's alone. Can't trust it to run and can't know if it is fixed or not. Been told 8 times it was fixed. Any one else had this problem. Thanks.SPEED_PROG Replaced.jpg
