Cool Trying to keep our helmets safe......

I wanted to use the helmet hooks under the seat but, they just didn't work for me so, I thought about using a stainless steel wire with a D loop at each end. I wanted to be able to sit both helmets on the seat and secure them with the wire to the helmet hook. The only problem was that once I closed the seat the wire just popped off the helmet hooks. I took a bold move and said I am going to try the seat latch post. Wasn't sure how much of the post was above the latch. I didn't need much clearance but, I would hate to get my seat stuck closed. I tried it and pulled the wire taut and closed the seat. It worked.... I was able to open the seat. My next step was to cover each D loop in a plastic material to keep the wires from sticking in my fingers. Got some Plasi Dip at Lowes for about $7.00. Got the 10' of 1/16" stainless steel wire at Tractor Supply but, I think Lowes also has it. It's just designed to keep honest people honest and with the helmets on the seat people are less likely to sit on the spyder. I also found a cigarette lighter adapter for my battery tender on Amazon cheaper that it was from the Battery Tender website. I swapped my fuse from 6 to 7 on the right side so, all I have to do is plug it in. I don't have to attach a wire to the battery. I have included a few pics. Sorry, somehow they came in rotated.

    Default Nicely done...

congrants on a nice solution. I have an RS and can put both helmets on the rear seat and run a kyrptonite cable lock through the chin guards to the grab bar. But yours is a nice one...

Trying to get it all in one post. I keep seeing post about attaching the Battery Tender directly to the battery, which I did, but, I had not seen anyone mention the adapter in the trunk nor where you could get one.

I use a cable lock like this: Bosvision Ultra-Secure 4-digit Combination Lock with 3 Feet Retractable Cable for Bike, Ski, Snowboard and Stroller https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DG2TNB6..._z0JeybMEZNJ67

I run it through the d-ring on my helmet and around the grip bars.

A good out of the box solution. We use Nolan helmets and they do not have any kind of D ring. Depending on where we are, we either leave them sitting on the bikes where we can see them in plain view or bring them inside with us.

We have not lost a helmet yet or even seen anyone try it. Lot's of crime in the big city (Anchorage), but we avoid that as much as possible.

We have Schuberths with no D ring either AK. We use a small retractable cable lock with a small bullet head end that fits into the lock. We just slip it through the strap loop at the end of the strap and fasten it to the grab rail. If someone wants the helmet they can cut the strap, but that means they have come prepared and it's how they take the D ring style as well. It means that you don't have to constantly watch the bike for opportunists.

I use a cable lock around the passenger hand grips. If someone is determined enough to get my helmet, they have to remove the rails. In that case, they earned my old dirty helmet.

Just slide the through the seat belt style retainer on the helmet and you can lock them on the bike.

I purchased a bike cable for around $5 on eBay and secure the helmets to the passenger hand grips.

And you can use it with quick release helmets. I have a Nolan N86 with quick release and contacted Lidlox to make sure it would work; it does wonderfully.

Yes, my wife's helmet is a Schuberth C3 Pro with no D ring but rather the quick release. When we got our Lidlox in Springfield they gave us the little pieces for both helmets similar as shown that either slide through the D ring for my Shoei or the gap behind the quick release and it works perfectly. If someone wants to cut the strap on any helmet then nothing makes a difference.
    Lidlox all the way!

I have never locked my Helmuts in 65 years and left them on the seat or hanging on the handle bar or foot pegs. Always thought it would be a good excuse for justifying a new Helmut if stolen. Seriously. Not saying it will never happen but so far so good. This includes numerous trips Sturges and more M/C Rallye's than I can remember. I either use Arai or Schuberth Helmuts.

(maybe my taste in Helmuts is not appealing to others) Go figure!

I thought you were gonna say to hook the small dog to your helmet, and leave them both on the seat!

Thanks Bob. I bought the Lidlox for my Shoei (d rings), but the old "extenders" that I had from an earlier life were way to wide to fit through the retainer. These will do the job perfectly.
