Don't know if I should have...
... but I did... use the cruise control on my RT SM5 while pulling our Bunkhouse trailer. Have I messed up here? I am back home after 2000+ miles and Hi-O Silver is in the garage. Hope I haven't ruined anything....

I use my cruise control to do a better job than I can do of maintaining a constant speed, which is normally the safest thing you can do when ryding (or driving). Unless you were hauling a$$ to the point of strain that the byke wasn't designed for, I can't image cruise control doing any damage. Even then, it would be the heavy throttle that did the damage, not the cruise control. I use mine when I haul my Aluma trailer.
I'm presuming your engine temperature didn't get into any dangerous zones?

My biggest concern is that this could cause a DESS failure, and your Winshield Support Arm to break! Also be sure to check your blinker fluid!

This is the only Blinker Fluid that won't void your warranty.

Did you have it in "trailer mode" ?
That would be a concern.

That would not be a concern to me. Trailer Mode just forces higher rpm shift points.

I still don't see the concern since the trailer mode will only cause the bike to downshift earlier. Going down the road in 5th (no trailer mode if you have 6 speeds) it will make no difference. If it downshifts for a hill, that's just standard operation that would require you to upshift once the hill is past and then re-engage the cruise control. The operation would be virtually identical with the cruise control engaged or not engaged.

I had read that there was such a thing as trailer mode on the Spyder - I didn't find one on my 2010 RT SM5.... so I just wasn't sure about using the cruise.... I've only been a Spyder Ryder for a short time and this is the first long trip we took towing....

I used Windex to refill my heated grips and Nanny immediately sensed it and alerted BRP. They came out an hour later and hauled off my Spyder.

Well, I was going to offer an opinion on using cruise control while towing (I do), but this thread seems to have gone haywire.

News to me yes it changes the shift rpm but also the brake balance & few other things im sure. Tighter tolerance for nanny. More for me to learn but for sake of peace on forum, trailer mode is there for a reason cruise control is a combination & a privilege. As i see it pulling trailer improperly (no mode) risk damage & the other does not. IMO
