I am having trouble understanding this one. A failed oil pump will cause failure of any surface that moves against another surface, but an explosion? Obviously the components were moving as you were cranking the engine. The boom you heard had to be fuel exploding. To me I am inclined to believe that the cam was not turning, (broken cam chain or belt) and the engine fired with an intake valve open. This could also account for the bent valves. I don't know if the 1330 is an interference engine or not, but I suspect it is, due to the published compression. It also is very likely that the oil pump is driven off of the cam. I made my living trouble shooting problems and doing field service for a major manufacturer of turbine engines and I guess it has become an additction.

Looks like the oil pump shaft broke. It's gear driven.

At least they found the problem, and the mew engine is being installed...

Ugh... They never ordered an air intake to replace the broken one. Now I'm waiting on that...
