has anyone safely used heated jackets, or socks, or handlegrips, etc. on a 2008 rs and not compromised battery power.

I use a 90 watt First Gear jacket and 30 watt gloves without problems. I do keep my bile on a battery tender almost year round. Only time it's not on a tender is on trips. Also use a fast inflator draws 10 amps for filling air mattresses when pulling the trailer, this is unbattery tender time.

You should not have any issues with the heated gear and any pre-2014 . The 1330 x 3's have a more powerful re-charging system compared to the pre 2014 stuff. I would recommend disconnecting the heated gear about one half hour before parking it. That will allow your system to get back to full charge before parking it.

The 2013 + models mount the battery in the Front and the standard 2 ft. power connection supplied with the Heat Troller is too short for these Spyders. There is a 5 ft. extension (Plug & Play) cable available for $22.50 to resolve this issue.

I am using a jacket liner and gloves for my wife and myself on a 2012 RTL. As long as I am moving there is enough juice to keep the battery up,slow speed in town it would probably not keep up. If the volts get to low I will turn my jacket off for awhile.

I don't think you'll ever have a problem. All of the well made systems today use Pulse technology. The garment flows current in pulses a percentage of the time. So if you have your 90w jacket liner set at 20% (Which is very common) then you're only flowing current 20% of the time making your jacket an 18w draw. Very efficient. Only at 100% on the Heat Troller will your 90w Jacket Liner draw 90w.

    Default We do....

We ryde double up with heated liners and heated gloves with no problems. Things to consider however are additional electrics you may have. I do not have any extra draws on the system. The 998 engine has a 650 watt output from the stator. The 1330 engine has 1200 watt output from it's alternator...
