Strange wave from another biker today.
While riding on the interstate today I got a wave from a HD biker that was a little weird. There were two riders and the first one was a guy on a HD trike and he didn't wave back. However, the gentleman behind him gave me a hand signal that was not ordinary (at least to me). He lifted his hand way up and it looked like he was holding an imaginary basketball, plam down as he passed me. Now I have seen a few weird waves from other riders over the years but that one was a little different! I am wondering if it is a new type of wave or if anyone else has seen a wavy done that way.

That's easy, It is the not so new Spyder wave. Arm stretched all the way up, hand facing forward, palm
facing down and fingers pointing down. It looks like a Spyder. Problem solved and respect given to Spyder

While riding in Kansas, I have got a very unique wave several times. The middle finger. Makes me laugh.

Hi Pam,
Re: Very interesting if true....
You read it on the internet; it must be true.

PS) I've reached the point that any wave is just fine with me; even the goofy ones I give back.

Was he an older rider, Jim? It might have been arthritis and he rides in that position whenever he's not changing gears

A wave is a wave
I give absolutely no thought to my wave back. I have given a nod of my head, shaken my hand in the air, waved my arm, raised my arm, pointed to the ground with two fingers, one finger and given a thumbs up. Don't give it a second thought either, I'll have to add the new Spyder hand jester to my non-specific routine. That's bad ass

my friend chuck, used to have some strange hand gestures. when i would follow him, he would get me so confused. if he tapped the top of his head, it would mean he spotted a cop. left hand down, was a left turn, left hand a little up, right hand turn, left leg out, debris on the left side of the road, right leg out, debris on the right side of the road. and so on. one day he was holding his right hand straight up. i was looking for a sign to read, i figured he was telling me this is where we are going. nope, he pointed to a plane. LOL i miss the old grouch

Who has time to see how someone waves, let alone how many fingers are involved? I'm usually going past them so fast I don't even know if they notice me!

Whenever I get the two-fingers-in-a-V-sign wave I wave back with three fingers.
You know. Because three wheels.

I like Jack's explanation on the origin of the wave I saw! Good job on explaining a strange wave to me! I know it may have been written tongue in cheek but his hand did look like a Spyder with his outstretched fingers!
Pam, I looked at the sign for shower and I'm glad his wave didn't look like that! However, I do need to hit the shower after a high humidity day and riding!
