The earth moved . . .
The Earth moved for me this morning . . . .
Unfortunately I was alone. We had an earthquake about 15 minutes ago! Shook the bed and I heard what sounded like something hitting the outside of the house. I haven't heard the local news yet, but I'm sure they'll be talking about it.
(OK . . . sure . . . . it's nothing to y'all in California, but in Kansas it's news.)

So it looks like the 3.2 mag one was an aftershock. That's big enough too.

FRACKING
I saw a news report a few months ago that earthquakes in OK may be caused by fracking. Before that technology, OK rarely had earthquakes.

I don't buy that theory, myself. There's a fault that runs from Oklahoma City to Omaha and there are occasional earthquakes in this region. My dad says they had small quakes when he was a kid.
According to USGS the quake this morning was 6.6 km deep. Fracking is usually just a couple thousand feet down.

Scary...😲
If your new to them they are scary especially in a wood frame home. Had one here a few months ago but then this is california though down here they are less. Coming from Peru where they are more common kinda used to them but in a wood frame I still get nervous.....

Saw that on the net this AM. 5.6 in the Oklahoma area. That is a very noticeable quake. They are saying no lives lost, but a lot of residual damage done.
There is also a large fault (the New Madrid) that runs N/S through Missouri. Also said that if that one happens--it will be a real biggy.
Glad to hear that you all right even though shaken up a bit.

Yep
That fracking caused a quake that could be felt in 6 states
And cow farts are a major contributor to climate change
But im still trying to figure out what caused the glaciers to pull out of Indiana & leave us these great State Parks?
Spyder farts probably
I love R&R put another dime in the jukebox baby!

I live in Enid Ok. about 60 miles away from Pawnee and it shook me awake the bed shook for what seemed a minute but was probably 20 or 30 seconds. Here's an article that explains what they think is causing these quakes .

It was a pretty good shaker. We lived in SoCal for almost 25 years. We were ~16 miles from the Northridge quake - 6.9. That was a REAL quake.
But, the 5.7 (now revised from 5.6) last week in Pawnee was respectable. It sure got our attention here in Wichita!
