Like your post. When it is cooler a nice day trip for your group would be the infantry museum at Ft. Benning. Currently in competition for the best free museum in U.S. There are some scenic roads between Covington and Columbus. Retired Navy combat vet. Thanks for post.

As a war veteran, I thank you for this post. I, too found myself wiping my eyes. It is a sad state of affairs that most young people today do not know the history of our armed conflicts, or the sacrifices of so many for all of us. It brings to mind a Memorial Day Parade about 15 years ago that I attended with my daughter, who was about 9 or 10 at the time. As the color guard marched by, my baby girl noticed several men that had not removed their hats. She marched right up to them and demanded that they remove their hats and place their hands over their hearts. I cannot begin to describe my pride for her in that moment, knowing that she had taken to heart my recounting to her my experiences, as well as those of her grandfather who was a B-17 ball turret gunner flying 25 missions over Europe in 1942 & '43. Thanks again, and God Bless The United States Of America.

Hi diva,
Re: I FOUGHT FOR YOU..................
I am a vet ( 1959 - 1963 ) and served with pride. I was very lucky in that my time was during peacetime.
I am a 'somewhat' student of the WW II battles in Europe. This past June I was in France ( I've was stationed there & have been back many times ) but had never visited Normandie where the D-Day guys landed.
It can stop you cold when you think about what those guys went up against. And, that is not to take anything away from the guys who did similar landings in the South Pacific.
Visiting Normandie was one of those things on my bucket list.
We can not do enough for our vets ( and that does NOT include me as I'm doing just fine [ I think ] ), they deserve it.

Thank you for this thread. My Dad and my 3 uncles all served in WWII. Two were in Germany in the Army. One was on Iwo Jima in the Marines, my Dad was in the SEA BEE's on Tinian running a North West Shovel. Helped build the air field that the Enola Gay took off from. It's sad that the elected mess in DC that we have today has allowed this once great nation to degenerate to the level that it has. Pic is my Dad running the shovel.

I served from 78 to 82 as a Nike Herc Fire Control Mechanic in the U.S. Army. Did a lot, grew up a lot & saw a lot. I'd do it again. I want to go back to the places that I was at when I retire. Thank you for this posting!

[QUOTE=redneck diva;1173714]sorry this thread isn't about Spyders in general,,,,,,, but if it wasn't for people like this video is reflecting on, none of us would be able to enjoy our Spydys.......
it doesn't have to be Memorial Day or Veterans Day to watch a video that should 100% be the #1 video on the internet.
thank you for sharing, your message was quite good!

I've seen this one before, great video! My wife and I both retired from the Air Force in the mid 90's. She worked on Titan II missiles, and then went into space launch, and I worked on Huey's. Had the opportunity to serve with some great people from all branches of the service.

No Greater HONOR than to have served your country.

Maybe the average citizen in this country would have a better understanding and appreciation of what FREEDOM means if they had to serve. Maybe just maybe the draft wasn't such a bad thing.
