I might be wrong but I think it is a Torx.

6 mm hex should be correct and most of them are. For some reason some folks report they have a torx one. That is on older machines I thought. So check that out first. Also someone before you may have already started to strip it. Check for that as well. Once you have found the correct bit to fit in the plug. Use a very long bar to give you lots of leverage to loosen. Not because you necessarily need the torque. It is so you do not have to struggle with it and you can concentrate keeping the bit square and fully seated. I use a 24' bar because that is what I have. You can read lots of threads of people struggling with 6 inch rachet to get it loose and strip it out.

OIL PLUG
I discovered you have a 14 ST ( it would be nice if you told us )....... If it's easier get a small mirror and flashlight and look to make sure what type you have ....... The put the correct one in ( mounted on a socket ) and tap it fairly hard with a hammer, this will break the VARNISH seal which is pretty strong, then do what Billy above said .............Mike

What he said...
you might go ahead and get some repalcement plugs..gold plugs or dimple are good ones. Autoparts also have them and they are regular hex heads..

Yes I plan on it for both the tank and engine, not a fan of those Allen style plugs my victory had one until the dealer striped the Allen part, and sent me home with it that way. Thanks for your support it was my 1st oil change, it went smooth and I got to see and learn a lot about this machine.

Like stated above, Make sure you are using the correct bit, Make sure it is seated all the way in and square to the bolt. It is very tight and just about the time you think you will bend or break the socket It will break and for a second you will go Oh S*#T until you then see it is loose and turning freely. I got Gold plugs for mine now BTW.
