    Default CruiseControl on '09 GS

    Howdy,
i was reading on here that all you needed to buy was the handlebar control for a do-it -yourself, plug and play cruise control. I was wondering if my '09 GS has the neccesary electronics on it for me to do this conversion? Or is it even possible to install on my Spyder?
i appreciate any input from those with Greater Knowledge than Myself!
    Thanks,
    Ryde Safely,

Hey Grizz, unfortunately you can only do the right hand handlebar electronic swap on the 2013 and forward. You need throttle by wire, not a cable controlled butterfly.

you can get others aftermarket types...I just use a palm cruise or cramp buster I am not keen on any electronic devise controlling or not the trottle. Just me but most go for it....

How does that system pick up the inputs needed to monitor and correct for the speed of the bike?

I also looked at electronic cruise control, back in the day was very tough too find and extremely expensive. Went with a throttle lock ( think from kuriyakin ) any way, on a long trip it is a GODSEND. just to rest the throttle hand and keep going. Not fool proof by any means but still a GREAT assist to a long run. Something you may want too consider. No electrics, or computers or anything to foul up and cause greif. Hope this helps.

When I purchased mine previous owner added a throttle lock. I don't use it constantly. Give my hand a quick break is all I use mine for.

When my wife had her 09 GS I put on an Audiovox cruise control and I put the speed sensor on the front pulley. It worked ok, but it would surge every now and then. I never did get the kinks worked out with the dip switches. We bought her a STL soon after.
