Oil usage
Is there a 'normal' amount of oil this engine will use? Just curious, I have 1500 miles on mine and it still indicates right at the full. Doesn't seem to have used any. I'm hoping it never does but is there an average amount of oil used and if so at what mileage will it occur?
Thanks.

Other threads....
I think I've seen other threads on here about oil usage. The 1330 doesn't use the oil like the 998 does is what I remember seeing. Anyone else want to add to this??

Hi habib
Don't you think that checking every 2000 miles is a bit of a stretch? Just saying. A lot can happen in between. You could do a lot of damage to your motor, but then again, what do I know? Good luck.

I have 97000 miles on 1330 engines and have never added a drop of oil between maintenance intervals

97,000??

Not to worry...
You have the 1330 engine that does not use oil between changes. They had some first run engines with leaks but all has been fixed. Just us 998 owners get to rag on oil use...not you..!!!

keep checking it, if you got nothing better to do. These 1330's are notoriously oil tight. I followed mine until shortly after the 1st
service, and now don't sweat it. If it never used a drop of "break in" oil.....draw your own conclusion. They are so good in this regard.
-
Checking the oil is quick and easy. After further advice I'll check it at around 1000 miles.
I want to get to 100k.

There is also a light on the dash, if you have a problem.

You can't begin to compare oil usage between the 998s, and the 1330s...
I think that the container of BRP oil that I bought for topping off the tank; is going to die of loneliness!

Saves space in the side bag... don't need to carry oil on trips
Agree, both our 15's have been keeping oil level constant. Just the chore of getting it right after a service, and then good 'til the next service. I still check it hot when we pull into the garage after a ride... about once a week or so.

24000 on my old 998 and it used about a quart every 3000 miles. My 2014 with the ACE motor and 28000 miles uses no oil between changes.
