    Question FARKLEs

Wife and I are going to be purchasing our first Spyder in the near future. We have pretty much nailed it down to an RT-S as the few extras that come with the Limited don't light our fire. Chrome is a pain to keep clean, we have nav in both our vehicles and use our phones for all navigation and the luggage we can buy at a reduced cost if needed.

Our real question is what is in your opion the must have FARKLEs and or mods such as swaybars, bump stops etc..

Also what is recommeded for communicating between us (other than yelling), With that said eventually we will both have our own and would like to comuunicate betwee bikes.

    Thanks

As far as necessary Farkles: that's completely up to you!
After all: it's really all about personalizing the bike to your own tastes!
For intercoms: something from SENA is probably your best bet.

All my farkles were to change the seating position of my RS to be more RT like, not sure what I would have done if I started with an RT. My SENA is perfect for communication, I believe I have the lowest model the 10, works great.

Default Here's how I do it....

Get the spyder and ryde it for several hundred or thousand miles and then see what you think you want to change. Start eith the safety items first then the comfort and last the bells and whistles. as for the comm's , Cardo/Scala system and Sena's are most commonly mentioned here but there is a fine unit sold by Zoozmc.com

Most will start with additional lighting, brakes and driving types, a bumpskid from spyderpops and other items you may find would help you feel safer. Comfort may be seats, backrests, handlebars, heated gear grips, seats etc. Then you can go wild with paints, wraps, and other items for fun and looks....

and am on board with Chupaca's suggestions.

Give it a thousand miles before doing any major remodels, such as seat or other handling mods.

My last was a RT-S. Lights went on first. Custom Dynamics trunk light bar, and some A-frame lights. The comfort seat did not go on until year two. I did not feel the need for any further mods.

For communicators, I like the SENA SMH 10's. Three years and counting--bike to bike.

Currently Owned: 2019 F3 Limited, 2020 F3 Limited: SOLD BOTH LIMITEDS in October of 2023.

    Previously : 2008 GS-SM5 (silver), 2009 RS-SE5 (red), 2010 RT-S Premier Editon #474 (black) 2011 RT A&C SE5 (magnesium) 2014 RTS-SE6 (yellow)

MY FINAL TALLY: 7 Spyders, 15 years, 205,500 miles

IT HAS BEEN A LONG, WONDERFUL, AND FUN RIDE.

Thumbs up High mount brake light!!

I think an extra bright, high mount brake light ( like the one from Custom Dynamic.) is the first safety mod and that it should have been a factory installed safety feature ( as it is an ALL autos).

    Better visability is paramount.

    Default Farkle Must Have's

Without a doubt, the third brake light HMT option from Custom Dynamics. I added the magic strobe kit as a bonus to get peoples attention even more. Also without a doubt is the BajaRon sway bar and links! Unbelievable difference in curves and with 2 up.!!!

HERE is a list of all my farkles and mods with descriptions and pictures. There are, of course, tons more available to you. But these are what floated my boat.

The one's I considered "essential" for comfort and safety (in pretty much this order), were the BajaRon Sway bar and shock adjustors, the FOBO TPMS, the Custom Dynamics high brake light, the Daytime Running Light bars, and the backrest.
