    Default NOVA SCOTIA or BUST

    BUST is the word.....

    my '15 F3-S was acting up a few weeks ago... battery would discharge during a ride... took her into the shop to have it checked out... NEW BATTERY... then on my way... problem returned... back to the shop.... new alternator... "that's it" i was told... so we saddled up and headed north from South Carolina to ride NOVA SCOTIA.... DoA in Massachusetts... thank God my riding partner had one of those 12V jumpers systems.... after 2 days of deliberation in Mass, we decided to head back... at every gas stop or over-niter, i had to pull the bucket out to jump start my ride... across the dash i would periodically get: LO BATT VOLT... but not once did i get a CODE... 2 days, and many JUMPS later, we made it back to SoCar... she goes back to the shop on Tuesday...

    anyone else having a similar issue with their F3...?

    so far:
    1 frt sprocket replaced
    1 battery (which now i'm certain my original battery was fine)
    1 frame support recall
    WHAT NEXT....???

    Default Bummer...

    there must be a drain on your system non-charging or storage related. Seems the check up was incomplete. hope they can dig deeper and solve this for you. lets us know what they find this time , maybe the third time is a charm...

    What a bummer to have to turn around and go home. I hope they get to the bottom of your problem quickly.

    AS OF 1 MORE HOUR, MY 'F3-S' WILL BE BACK AT THE DEALERS FOR REPAIR...
    I'LL KEEP YOU POSTED....

    BTW; does the 'F' in F3 stand for FAULTY.....?

    Have you added something directly to the battery that could be drawing power when the key is off like a USB charger with a LED light on it, or maybe a radio? My wife's F3 has many lights on it, but nothing tied directly to the battery except for her gerbings hook up. Never had any problems. Something is constantly drawing power. I had the same thing happen to an motorcycle, and it was the USB charger drawing power constantly.

    OK, my dealer THINKS they have found the reason why my battery kept dying, (even after they charged me for a new battery) and why i had to terminate my ride to NOVA SCOTIA in Massachusetts....

    the Service Manager just told me that the GROUNDING STRAP between the engine and the frame was corroded, and no longer had the capability to transfer current to the battery (does this make sense to anyone out there?) so he has replaced the strap...
    i pick her up tomorrow, and after which, i will ride her for 50 - 75 miles, and once home i will shut her down, and wait 10 minutes and see if she'll start again.... i'll keep you posted....

    NOTE; to all F3 owners.... i bought mine in Feb. of 2015 and i have 25,000 miles on her now... so i'm possibly at the top for mileage... if your unit has a hesitation during starting, this may be happening to yours as well... keep this in mind....

    What they said about the grounding strap is plausible. The problem I have is the battery should not have been changed out without being charged and load tested first. If they had then they would have known something else was wrong. So you had to find out it was not fixed. Then they diagnosed a bad alternator. Highly suspicious diagnosis. But you know could be. Proper testing should have told them for sure. Again not the right fix and again left to you to find out. Now diagnosed a corroded grounding strap. Again easy enough to test and make certain. So did they?

    SO GOOD........
    i've ridden 3X's since i picked her up, and have yet to notice any hesitation in starting.... Saturday we are riding the mountains in NC, and that will be the true test....
    but you are correct Bill, i'm NOT the specialist for these... they are suppose to be, and a new battery at $140 is a bit much for me to swallow when it's their error....

    Glad you got it fixed .........Not happy they screwed up and made you pay for their ignorance ....................NOW DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE THE STRAP IS ON A 2014 RT ....because I have had hesitant starting for quite awhile now !!!!!!...............................Thanks ....Mike
