slingshot
We went in for a drive belt change this past Saturday and saw that they had some slingshots. I thought why not and take a test ride while we were waiting. Not very impressed with it, to me it was just like driving a convertible car! My wife and I really were glad to get back on our spyder

Got into one once, took a bit and had to have help getting out. I want no part of one and very satisfied with my RT.

It really is apples and oranges. I love my F3 but the next addition to the toy stable will be a slingshot. It was really fun to drive. Drive being the operative word. I ride my spyder, i'll drive the slingshot.

I sat in one. It was a fairly big machine without a lot of room inside.
I may take one for a test drive this summer.
One thing for sure, it is NOT a Spyder and is not a direct competitor.
It's a different machine and can be enjoyed in its own right.
If anything, a Slingshot is a competitor of the T Rex, or Morgan.
When I say Morgan, I mean the Morgan Three Wheeler, not the Morgan Out Island.
If it ain't broke, don't break it.

Have to agree...
but it is a choice. the autocycle is a different beast and fun no doubt...it's just not a spyder...

I had a similar event happen with me. I went to a larger dealership that had one parked near the highway (almost 100 yards from the front door). I stopped by the road and attempted to sit in it, and then get out before a salesman tracked me down. After sitting my 6'-2", 260 lb. frame into the seat, I could not get out. In fact, I had to have help from my buddy, and the salesman to get me out. I would rather pick up a nice used convertible.

a convertible is a great ride on a nice sunny day

I got to drive one last summer, while it was fun like others have said it's kind of like the worst of all worlds in my opinion. I could not get past the major under steer.
For me I would rather spend the same about of cash on a very low mileage, late model convertible Camaro. But to each his own, I know someone who owns one and loves it.

It's more like going from Two Wheels to the Sypder. I thought I was going to fly off. Now After 5 Seasons on Three I love this thing. Probably the same change feeling.

My boss has two Slingshots and loves them. I rode in his 2016 and didn't like it. Engine noise and rattles were pretty loud. He keeps trying to get me to buy one but I picked up an 09 Corvette Convertible for less that what he paid for his Slingshot.

Next!!!
The Slingshots are just too expensive to have around just for a conversation piece.
Personally, not interested, even if I had plenty of cash.
HAND'S UP:
The only sure way of getting rid of bad habits is to create good ones.
AND, by the way, this will not happen on auto pilot.
It's time for a YOU-turn!!!

I guess I am one of the few that still like the Slingshot. This opinion based on what I have seen and the information that I have gleaned from searches.
They don't sell them here, but I have seen a black one on the road from time to time. We are always going +50 in the opposite direction, so I have not been able to stop and chat.
I do guess that getting in and out would be an issue with my bad hip. Comfort wise??????? I do like the fact that I could buy top of the line for a bit less than an fully decked out RT. If they come here, I will check them out. Will I buy one?????? It all depends on the test ride.

Thanks! Keep looking, deals are out there. I searched for a while before I found mine. Most were mid to upper 30's. This one was MUCH cheaper.

Comparing a Spyder and a Slingshot is like comparing a German shepherd to a goldfish: You can find them in the same type of store, and they're classified in the same general category, but they don't have much in common beyond that.

Agreed. Only similarity is they use the same size license plate.

Having done quite a few alignments on both vehicles, I've driven my share of them.
The Slingshot is a great fun go cart that is street legal. Id never let my Z06 go to get one but they are fun. My F3 is a bike and an entirely different experience. But for the price, I can see why folks buy the SS vs other small sports cars.
Other than they both come from the factory with 3 Kenda tires, they have little else in common.
