Maybe there's another shoe yet to drop and they're waiting for the fall release event. What would make more sense than a 10th anniversary RS with the 1330 engine and the Sport Mode now in the F3, just in time for the 10th anniversary event? From a production and support economies of scale, it makes a lot of sense to only have to support a single engine type. And with more power and torque, better mileage, and longer service intervals, I suspect most would want that in any machine, regardless of the style.
BRP has had a major release event in the fall of each of the last four years.
- Fall, 2012 - announce the 2013 ST
- Fall, 2013 - announce the 2014 RT with the 1330
- Fall, 2014 - announce the 2015 F3-S with the 1330
- Fall, 2015 - announce the 2016 F3-T with the 1330
- Fall, 2016 - sit on our hands just ahead of the 10th anniversary????
With factoring in some old rumors that the 2013 ST was supposed to have gotten the 1330, but it wasn't quite ready, notice the pattern here? I suspect there could be a small slice of the marketplace for a pure sport Spyder, one with the aggressive sport bike riding position, plenty of power and a Sport mode that lets you run with it. And perhaps a turbo - what did Lamont say in the Daytona video - "not yet, anyway"? Something like that could really help turn the RS into a real option for the crotch-rocket types...So if BRP plans to carry on their tradition of a fall release event, there may be more yet on the horizon.
Wouldn't it be great if BRP had enough marketing savy to actually let their customers know about product releases. I mean there are no more loyal following customers than those found at this website......how many of you knew there was going to be a product announcement today?
Rather than have us all guess about
- Is this early release 2017 only
- Is this the 2017 model line
- Are there other 2017 models yet to be announced
- Etc
Wouldn't it be great if BRP marketing could just clearly communicate to everyone what the hell is going on.

2017's
The line up looks great, but I see the RT-S price has gone up $1,700.00+. Did they put the auto-trunk release button back?

Well, I understand that the ST and the RS have not been big sellers in the last couple of years. But for a couple of reasons, I'm guessing we haven't seen the whole line-up yet. First of all, there does not seem to be any entry level Spyder in next year's line-up. That won't work if BRP wants to build ownership. There was talk of an entry level Spyder in development a few years back. BRP would be foolish to abandon that plan while eliminating the RS and the ST.
Secondly, not everyone fits the F3 profile - Many simply don't like it; others find it physically uncomfortable, and awkward to ride. (I'm in the latter category.) That would leave the RT as the only choice. Just doesn't make a lot of sense from a marketing perspective.

BRP website says latest 2017 models - NOT the only models. Didn't say 2017 Spyder line-up. So I'm not jumping to any conclusions yet - could be only models - but maybe not!
Poor choice of an announcement IMHO.

Like I said....
I'm ryding my RS till one of us can go no longer....If I should win I'm sure I can find another... if the Jag loses it's remains will keep others running strong...and if the Jag should win it will make no difference she will make someone a great ryde....

At least BRP is actively making changes and improvements! Honda Goldwing owners haven't seen a major redo since 2001! Minor changes in 2006, and some restyling in 2012, but that's it for 16 years! They don't even have much for rumors!

I was not fond of my English teacher. Her and the American literature teacher would compete to see who could give most homework (A three page report over holiday weekend..what were they thinking?).

what do you expect BRP to add. The goldwing has only changed as new technology comes out. BRP has most of the new technology. Well expect for the amphibious or airplane mode.

BRP did this before, when the RT was introduced in 2010 it was available in black for the 2010 and 2011 models then they stopped making black for the 2012 and 2013 RT lineup but brought it back in 2014.

How about making an RT with all the amazing updates & Farkles we've all done to ours.
Seriously, wouldn't that be something? Sway bars, better tunes, built in cup holders, Blue tooth, etc etc etc..... Just makes sense to me that If I was building a great machine that I would incorporate occasionally the awesomeness that us riders do to our machines that make them extremely better!!!
Thoughts??
