    Default Spydercation

While not as ambitious as some trips chronicled on the walls of this forum, my lovely wife and I are planning a Spydercation to the absolutely beautiful Skyline Drive.

Yeah I've heard they've had a bit of a problem but it occupies a special place in our hearts.

We started to go to Skyline Drive camping at Big Meadows before we were married.
That would place it right before fallen vegetation started to turn into coal.

Later we moved from a tent to one of several VW Campers.

Had I had the foresight to save that series of vehicles in the pristine shape they were when I got them my garage could be a vast underground area with Spyders of every color parked there waiting to amuse me.

But alas, I sold them off to buy new ones until the series finally ended with me rejoicing that I had gotten a hundred bucks for something that no longer ran.

    Anyway ...
Camping has lost its appeal so we will staying in one of Skyland's nicer rooms.

So at the end of this week we will be packing up, I am hoping to be able to pack my toothbrush and a spare pair of socks in my new F3, Pugsly.

My better half will need to mule everything else in cavernous RT.

    Gawd, Spydering is fun.

I saw your F3 packed up just before you left Springfield. It sure looked like you were packing more than a toothbrush and socks to me. It's a good thing your better half has a Spyder of her own to pack.

Have a great trip, and don't forget to post pics!

Yeah, coming back from Springfield people on I-70 kept looking at me.
I felt like Tom Joad in The Grapes of Wrath.

I guess probably more like the Walter Brennan character ...

It's what people in the East call Shenandoah National Park. https://www.nps.gov/shen/index.htm It's like an extension from the northern end of the Blue Ridge Parkway.

    As answered.

The only thing I have to add is that it has some pretty neat hiking trails and lots of black bears.

Early on we were listening to a Ranger Talk concerning bears.

The Ranger said that the only danger about feeding bears was that when there weren't enough hotdogs in the package to satisfy the bear.

The bear was the only one who could decide that.

    Default This brings back memories

That was one of our trips last year Roger. Front Royal to Cherokee. As you can see by our signature pic, we were in the clouds at Skyland. But it turned out to be a beautiful sunset. Enjoy the view….and the bears.

Maybe you could get a selfie with a bear. That may be fun.
