Default RT to RS handle bar swap

A bid shout out to JimboRTS for selling me his RT take of bars. They are now installed on my 2014 RS and will allow me to ride long distances more comfortably and upright not leaning forward. There is now a comfortable bend @ the elbows where as before my arms were fully extended.

Will try and get some pictures attached.

Well done. Looks amazing... should be a nice relaxed ryde for you now...I can still handle the RS stock and love it but know it is not the best for all. Good to know you can make the swap....

Thanks, Yes the swap is "easy" bolts right up but only 2013 and forward. Spent a few trips back inside to look at the shop manual during the change over. The ugliest part was figuring out where the two 10 mm bolts that held on the forward plastic shroud in front of the ignition switch!!

Default RT to RS Handle bar swap

Took the bike out for ~ 100 mile jaunt on the back roads. OMG what a difference in how my back and neck feel!!!

My arms are now bent ~ 40 degrees @ the elbow, my spine is straight and the ease of steering to turn a corner is night and day difference. I feel I have much better control of the bike when changing directions off a straight line.

I don't feel like I'll need to replace the backrest now. Am looking forward to my trip to California to visit my sister in July.

Default Making this swap on different year Spyders

    Hi,
Interested in making this swap on my 2011 RSS with bars from a 2011 RT. You seemed to indicate it may not work for earlier model years... It that definitely the case ?? Any insight appreciated ! Thanks

    Regards,
    Brion

I just replaced my 2015 RTS bars with the Tri Axes bars. I would sell them. They are black.

Sorry for the long delay, this just popped up today!!! Hopefully you have done the swap, if not the things that you will need different is the covers that fit underneath the bars and keep all the wiring covered. Make sure that you order the covers for the SE as they are configured differently than those for the SM. All the other parts are interchangeable from 2013 forward.

    Hi IGETAROUND,
    Thank you for responding.
Apologized for my ignorance, wonder is it possible for you to post the picture of the exact parts I need to get.
    Thank you so much.

    By the way:

Am I right to say that the items I need are:

    1) Handle Carbon Black cover with small black cap in the bottom of the center cover.

    2) LH Steering cover for SE5 (semi auto transmission)

    3) RH Steering cover

    4) And required screws & bolts

    Hear from you soon...Cheers

Is it a direct swop without removing other parts besides the handle bar cover and handle controls?
Saw a YouTube video on a RT changed to a Tri Axis handle bar, very complicated.

We added 3" risers to the bars on both the 2008 and 2009 GS/RS versions. The crotch rocket position got real old, real fast. There were no risers in those days except for the factory 1.5 inch ones--and IMO--they did not help much. My dealer custom made the 3" risers and I got one set free for beta testing and the other for installation time only. They worked for me. Dealer no longer has them for sale.

Currently Owned: 2019 F3 Limited, 2020 F3 Limited: SOLD BOTH LIMITEDS in October of 2023.

    Previously : 2008 GS-SM5 (silver), 2009 RS-SE5 (red), 2010 RT-S Premier Editon #474 (black) 2011 RT A&C SE5 (magnesium) 2014 RTS-SE6 (yellow)

I'm surprised they " custom made " them. I was in the same position as you in 09 and I bought Snowmobile risers and used those .... worked great ...... Your dealer does have snowmobiles - ?????? ...... Mike
