Oil Change Kit
Today, I changed oil in my 1330 for the first time. I went slowly and took my time so that I could learn as much about the machine as possible. It was significantly different from the 998. I am not sure that I would consider it to be any easier than the 998 but, all went well. I used the new oil change kit and all was good except there was no copper washer ( PN 420250640 ) for the gear box drain plug. Is this normal or was mine missing something ?

Based on watching Shawn Smoak's 1330 oil change video I'd say you got shorted. He showed the contents of the kit and everything necessary was there.

One of the washers is silver in the kit that I purchased

The silver (aluminum) one is the engine drain plug washer.

Mine did not have the copper washer. The aluminum one was there but, as stated, it is not the one for the gearbox drain plug. Next time I will have to check before I bring the kit home.

Or you could just order the kits from BajaRon for less money and let him check the contents before he sends it to you. I find it far easier than dealing with a dealer parts jockey and making multiple trips for overpriced parts.

I have no complaints about my dealer any how they treat their customers. I would not have any reservations about ordering from BajaRon but, this was it's first oil change and I have always felt that not creating a situation that could put me or the dealer in the position of having to defend my actions is prudent just in cast any issues are uncovered.
