    Default F3 gas cap issue?

So my friend just picked up her new F3s. Using the key, she unlocked the gas cap, no problem. Now, trying to close the gas cap and lock back up with key, but no go. Key will not turn all the way to lock. Tried applying pressure to cap, making sure it was down all the way and retried to turn key to lock but still no luck You can turn the key all the way to open or close and can remove the key but can not get the key to lock the gas cap. Any ideas?

Yes, they are hard to click all the way closed. I leave the key in the lock and press down HARD with both thumbs on the edges of the cap until I hear a distinct "click". Then remove the key.

I assume leave the key in the open position while pushing down on the cap?

    Default F3 Gas cap

There seems to be a lot of variation in closing difficulty from one F3 to another and at different times on the same F3. Here is a recent link with some additional suggestions on the topic: http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/s...-GAS-CAP/page2

Ours seems to be more difficult to close at times but never as bad as some have described.

Is it only that bike, only that driver? Use the suggestions above & report back. It fundamentally was designed to be used by all users weak & strong, the can gum up & need internal cleaning but that takes few years or poor cleaning conditions.

This is a known issue, and I believe that Lamont is working on a solution.

Yes 15,000 miles later I finally figured out do not force the key. Above is correct, it does not get any easier. Good seal, huh!

    Default Let's see....

The best way with a sign that your done is to open the cap leave the key in...close the cap without touching the key press the cap firmly towards the front till the key pops back to the center...that's the sign ..pull the key and be on your merry way....
