Visit a park free during National Parks Week
Thought this may be of interest to some people on this forum.
During National Parks Week – which begins Saturday and runs through April 24 – every U.S. National Park is offering free admission!
Several other fee-free days are scheduled in 2016 for the National Park Service and other federal agencies, including lands managed by the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management that allow off-highway vehicles in designated areas. These days provide a great chance to explore public lands all over the country and we encourage our members to make the most of them!
Fee-free days:
- U.S. Forest Service: June 11, Sept. 24, Nov. 11
- National Park Service: Aug. 25-28, Sept. 24, Nov. 11
- Bureau of Land Management: Sept. 24, Nov. 11
- U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service: Sept. 24, Oct. 9, Nov. 11-13

Since I'm not a senior yet I get a year pass for $80, not much when some national parks are $25 to get in.

The lifetime pass actually costs $10.00 ($20.00 for expedited) , and as akspyderman noted, will get you into all national parks, as well as all federal recreation lands at any time. You can get it when you are age 62. You can get a rear view mirror holder for it at any national park. You can also get a decal for motorcycles, but oddly, they cost $10.00 and you have to get them every year. The regular pass is good for a motorcycle & rider, but I would not leave mine on my Spyder at an area that does not have a person manning an entry booth, hence the decal.
