unfortunately right now i only have my motorcycle permit. Have been an ATV rider for years but never a street bike.
i may try USHIP but they are just a bunch of (mostly) independent guys. was hoping someone has some experience with a specific shipper.

Who did you buy the bike from? imotorsports offers free shipping on new bike purchases, or at least they used too.

I know a lady in Florida that just about pulled her hair out trying to ship her Spyder to the Northeast. She would get a quote and they would show up with a tow dolly or something equally inadequate to haul a Spyder. She finally got East Lynn Auto Transport, Lynn, MA to pick it up.

Check with Haulbikes.com. Their specialty is hauling motorcycles, ATVs, and watercraft on trailers. Their trucks are specifically set up for those machines. I had them bring my Spyder from Wisconsin to Idaho. The only downside is they wait until they have a truckload before they travel but still you should be able to get in 30 days. They are the contract hauler for Harley Davidson trikes.

If you're an AMA member and get their magazine, they usually have ads for what you need. Good luck.

What part of Staten Island are you in? I used too live in Tottenville until 2008 when I move out to the country.

If you are not an AMA member you should seriously consider joining http://www.americanmotorcyclist.com/. The Shipper of choice for them is Federal Transport. With an AMA number they will give you a discount.

Hi siny10309,
Re: now have to get her home!
I used these guys: 1-888-428-5245
They sub'd it out to U-Haul Bikes or some company like that.
It took about 5 weeks to go from Southern California to the Pacific NorthWest.
However, I was very satisfied with both companies.

Hope that this helps some,

I concur with IdahoMtnSpyder, I would highly recommend HaulBikes. Their phone number is 888-428-5245. Website is www.haulbikes.com. They are located in Milwaukee, WI. I used them several years ago to transport a Spyder from Mississippi to Nebraska. Very Professional and kept in touch with me the whole way as to when my Spyder would be picked up and where it was along the way. I liked the fact that they only haul bikes and trikes and the driver was a biker so he took good care of what he was hauling. The Spyder cost a little more than a motorcycle because it takes up more space, but was well worth the cost. Congrats on your F3.

Haulbikes is not a fan of us city folks...they will not deliver to any of the 5 boroughs.

Well that stinks. I hope you can find a reputable transporter and can get your ride home.

Keep in mind that Haulbikes is a hub transporter. All bikes go back to Milwaukee where they are stored until they have a load going in your direction. I'm not saying that's a problem, but it can take several weeks to get a delivery.

Try Arnie Werra of Werra trucking out of Massachusetts. He hauls a ton of bikes down to bike week in Florida. I don't know him personally and never had him haul a bike but he advertises his services on a Facebook page I belong to. He seems to have a Uship profile also.
He seems to be arnie74 on Uship and he has all glowing feedback.

Call iMotorsports and see if they will share which company they use. They do this all the time.

It is only 12hrs to Chicago, and a pretty direct route. I would borrow or rent a trailer, and go and pick it up yourself. This way you can make sure that it does not get damaged.
I have used shippers in the past, but you have to wait so long for them to show up, and then have to wait on them to deliver it that it is easier to go get it yourself.
