Ill be honest, if you are passing in no passing zones, putting other peoples life in jeopardy, I got no problem if the cop kicks your ass.

Dirtbag on a bike putting lots of lives in danger, cop took him down. Cop probably did not have to kick him but i wasn't there so i don't know. But the award was excessive.

The biker should have been paying attention to traffic behind him. He obviously wasn't since it took him 5 minutes to notice the cop. But why didn't the cop use his siren? He should have. But it sure looks to me like the biker stopped as soon as it was safe after he saw the cop. IMO the cop was a lot more aggressive than he needed to be until he had a clearer idea of what the biker's response would be. I don't see any aggressive behavior by the biker at all. There was no reason to hit the bike. The cop was either a reckless driver or recklessly angry. But what really bothers me is the cop's comment that he didn't know the dash cam was running, clearly implying, to me anyway, he would have been less aggressive in his behavior had he known. That it is a purely hypocritical attitude. A cop should behave as he feels he needs to behave in a particular situation regardless of the presence or not of video.

No problem with the officer doing his job, siren heard or not, the lights should have been heeded.

The biker was an idiot. The cop shouldn't have kicked him.

I agree about the cops comment about not knowing the dash cam was on, what difference should that make? The cop didn't have to kick him nor pull his gun,
i would like the biker to see jail time & the cop to be fined, maybe that way they both will learn but the biker should not get rewarded for breaking the law.

I'm on the cops side on this one, this rider will get someone else killed as he got off on this stunt and will continue endangering others untill he kills someone or himself.

Looking closely at this video you notice how the officer holds his Taser weapon, classic gangsta hand grip for a Taser sideways.?
Not a weapons expert but...
This displays a level of unconscious aggression on the officers part... Body language speaks here too.
The officer could benefit from follow up training and possible aggression therapy.
Excessive force regardless of bikers fault...

Camaro Cam
More than just reckless endangerment he does looks to be running.(passed 2 in no passing zones at excessive speeds, just passed the trooper doing same) & state troopers often have to act more defensive as they are scattered & without backup. There is a social media fire for police abuse the lawyer is riding coattails trying to keep warm. Summary they BOTH are wrong, glad no one else got hurt too. ("Playing Monday quarterback ,watching the video, is always easier to judge than IN THE MOMENT ") also noting is said about how fast they are going. & ive watched just about every episode of COPS (& stayed @ holiday inn express lol )

I guess I would tend to argue that the biker did not get rewarded for breaking the law. In fact, for all we know he may have been slapped with a healthy fine and I'm not sure that would have been automatically dismissed based on the cops behavior. The biker got a civil award for being excessively mistreated by the officer. At least that's the way the jury saw it or they wouldn't have given him the award.
Committing a criminal act does not give a law enforcement officer carte blanche authority to use whatever force he wants to subdue the perpetrator. All he has is authority to use the requisite force to subdue the perpetrator. Unfortunately that does reach the level of killing the perpetrator on occasion. It doesn't give authority to kick a perpetrator who appears to be compliant. See the biker's action at beginning at 3:44.

He shouldn't have been kicked but he should have noticed the lights... His job to look all around as a driver. But no siren on makes no sense at all. In a high speed chase you have to put on the siren for safety reasons.

Do unmarked cars get sirens?? The lights were good enough to get 2other vehicles to move out of way

Huh
I did notice that many of the oncoming vehicles and ones being overtaken were pulling over to the side as the Camaro gets near. Bike mirrors are small therefore a little harder to see behind as you're speeding away. Just saying.

Hi Jerbear,
Re: So, what do you think?
He is an Oregon State Police officer so this has been all over the tv for quite some time here.
The biker claimed that he could not hear the siren due to his helmet; maybe yes, maybe no.
IMO the award was based upon the disproportionate physical attack on the biker by the LEO.
IMO if an LEO cannot control their anger in any situation, they should lose their certification.
It is not always that easy, that is why just not anyone should be allowed to become a LEO.
YMMV,

This is a interesting situation similar to the bike incident but on foot.. watch to the end to see how eyes can be deceived by audio and viewing perspective. Leo caught again. https://www.facebook.com/ocala.starb...1876452207096/ in the last 15 sec. from the Leo body cam you hear stop resisting arrest.

The guy on the bike was wrong, no question. However, you can tell as he approached the intersection that he finally sees the cop as he is looking hard in his mirrors (it was about time that he checked them). The cop used excessive force because he was PO'd, and he broke the guys collar bone and a couple of his ribs when he kicked the guy (this info was in the article).
I think the state should have covered the guys medical expenses but the $50,000 was way over the top! Also they both should have been sent to bed with no dessert!!

Punk on the bike got what he deserved. Cop is one hell of a driver to keep up the way he did. Having been a HPD instructor I have no doubt that the brakes on the Camaro were about done.
Edit: If you want to play racer go to the track. BTDT. I've won my class championship 3 years in a row so I think I know what I'm talking about.

I think the Cop should have been fired. He was pissed the Biker did not stop and took his aggression out on the Biker. Biker was wrong but did not deserve this kind of treatment for speeding. There would be a lot of different opinions had it happened to you.
