Default Cat Bypass - I want this

    http://www.lamonstergarage.com/perfo...ent-pipe-1330/

I want this for xmas. I told Santa I want it, and he told me to go f**k myself, he's giving me coal again.

I guess I'll have to buy it for myself.

Is there an installation video anywhere for this? Any special tools needed other than the normal set of tools that we all have in our garages?

    Thanks,

    Pam <------- bad girl

    Thumbs up Pro's and Con's

I'm giving this mod some thought also.

What are the pros and cons?? Is the proformance increase worth the cost?? How about the noise increase?? Has Bob done this mod????

Ya know its either this mod or gun mods. Cost is simular.

    Hi Pam,
It's not too difficult. Hardest part is getting the retaining springs back on. Who doesn't love a "Bad Girl?

I have this pipe on mine and my wife's F3, but also installed a Big City Baffle in the pipe after reading posts of loss of mid range power. Performance is better than stock, no dcell piping and has a great sound.

Default Did not like it on mine

Bought one last year at the Springfield Rally thinking the slightly louder sound was cool. After a year, the constant drone when cruising became annoying so I took it off. I could detect NO improvement in performance or gas mileage. Like all products, some folks like them, some don't.

BTW, I watched, and helped the tech putting that top spring on and it was a bitch without a puller. You definitely will need one.

Forgot to add that I didn't like the deceleration popping
    either.

    Hi Pam,

As others have stated I did not notice any benefit from doing this. My 14 did not pickup any mileage and heat has never been an issue so if it is running cooler I do not notice it.
I cannot comment on the install as I had it done at the last Owners Event in 14.

Would I do it again - No

I did the pipe a few months ago on my RT.The exhaust is a little louder when you get on it.I have no popping on decel. If you have a aftermarket muffler the cat delete will make your RT very loud.I tried a few aftermarket mufflers with the cat delete and it made my RT very loud and run like crap.I had no issues with heat but wanted to try the cat delete for a better sounding exhaust.I would suggest to tell Santa to get you a different present then the cat delete.

i did the job last year, it is not to hard to do but i did have some problems getting the top spring that holds the two pipes together to the front pipe. you do need to have the bike off the floor. i left the top spring off till someone with a bike lift put it back on for me. i think it was red neck diva that took her bike to a muffler shop and they installed it for her. so if you feel it might be too much to do, that would be the way to go.

I put the cat delete pipe on my RT and did not notice any mileage gain or any increase in power perceived or not. As for the sound it was a little louder not throaty but more like a ricer also had a lot of backfiring on deceleration. I took it off and went back to stock, would recommend money would be better spent elsewhere, just my opinion everyone is different.

    Cool

Pam, when I bought my F3 (as a demo from Pitbull) I had them put the cat delete on before I picked it up. I happen to like the way it sounds, especially coming from a v-rod with Screaming Eagle cams, a SEPST tuner and Bub & 2 into 1 exhaust. That bike would shake the garage when I started it up, but I loved it anyway. So when I picked up the F3, I was anticipating some disappointment in the sound, but have actually been very pleased. It doesn't sound like a sewing machine, and when I went to our v-rod rally in OH in June, got lots of compliments about how it sounded. I am thinking about getting the baffle mentioned in the earlier thread to see if it really improves the midrange. Would be very interested if it does that. Go for it! If you don't like it, they seem to sell pretty quickly here on the forum. Just my 2 cents with 2 cents change back. Some people like loud, others don't, so please yourself!

I had a PitBull (bought and installed on both my RT's and like them both. Enough sound so traffic can hear you if not seen and not obnoxiously loud. Not sure if any performance is gained but it sounds like much better. No more sewing machine sound.

Its a bitch even with a puller. Another stupid design flaw (like the mirror clips).

The cat bypass pipe by itself will do three things, change the exhaust note, reduce heat and cause you to lose midrange power do to loss of back pressure. By installing the Big City Thunder baffle at the front of the bypass pipe you add the back pressure back into the system where it needs to be mid pipe. Adding this Wii change the exhaust to a deaper sound and eliminate the dcell piping caused by a lean exhaust.

Works much better with the Big City Thunder baffle installed.
The back pressure improved the torque and mileage also.

Put the top spring on first...screwdriver. Then the bottom spring...spring puller. Here is a photo of my spring puller which is a piece of 550 cord.

Starting to remind of the Harley again, putting on items that are not needed. Now I could understand a better tune but there is nothing out there yet for the 1330.

Well, I'm just thinking of a nicer note on my Spyder. No, it's not needed.

(It's actually fairly low on my list)

The Baffle is made by Jim at "Big City Thunder" in Mathews, NC. Phone # 704-847-1222.
The baffle part # is QBL 1750 and you will need a Rienhart adapter/sleeve to take up the difference between the baffle and slightly larger inside diameter of the bypass.
This fits into the front of the bypass pipe just behind the flared gasket bell.
Some minor trimming/sanding is required on the sleeve for it to fit into the pipe.
The total price with shipping was $85 and they sent a really nice T-shirt also.
