    Default Rt rebuild

Have had my 2015 rtl on jack stands 27 inches off the cement for 4 days now installing farkles. Swaybar, smoothspyder, cat delete pipe, Trunk brake led light bar, 3rd and 4th led brake light, missing belt guard, brake return spring, led bump skid, day time running lights, mirror turn signals, 2 drink holders, large brake pedal, mud flap, Flag holders, Brake light strobe, Lidlox, Gel pad in the seat, 12 volt outlet on the dash. Led light strips for 622 trailer.
I think I have the belt tension set right at (180 pounds ?) and the smooth spyder at 12 pounds.
I hope it runs right after all of this because if it doesn't, I wont know which one the electrical farkles the problem is. I tested each one after install by just turning on the key but have not run the engine.
It might feel like a different bike. Hopefully I will get it all finished up today and test drive it this evening.

Tell me about this "Brake Return Spring", i assume its because of the heavier oversized brake pedal. What is it and where did you get it?

    Thanks

    Default Brake Spring

I used a washer about 1 1/2 inch in diameter and drilled a small hole on the outer edge of it to hook the spring in. I took the clevis pin out of the brake linkage, put the pin through the washer and back through the linkage and hooked the other end to the spring hook for the exhaust. Works perfect. I noticed sometimes if I let off of the brake pedal slowly that the pedal would not come all the way back up and the brake light would stay on. It only needed to come up about 1/8 of an inch but that was enough to keep the brake light on. This solved the problem very well as there is no adjustment on the brake light switch under the bike. I got the spring from lowes in the hardware section for about 3 bucks.

    Default Rebuild

I was hoping to get finished today, BUT, I did not. I'm tired of working on it. I will finish the seat tomorrow and then its time to ride.

I will try to make a little video tomorrow on the brake spring.
I didnt realize how much farkling cost, but man, you can spend 3 grand real quick.
But the good thing is I still have .47 cents for gas, soooo, lets ride,,

Impressive FARKLING!!! Not only will it feel like a new bike, but it will look like a new bike with all of the additional brake lights, etc. You may want to take a picture of your license plate so you will have something to refer to in case you don't recognize it.

    Default UH OH

I woke up this morning with the anticipation of finishing the seat on my bike and the farkling will be finished, BUT, the .47 cents I had left over after farkling was for gas money,, well,, the wife took .25 cents of it for her lunch,,,sooooooooo, I might go somewhere on .27 cents worth of gas but I will never make it back.

    Default Things forgotten

I forgot to mention putting the cotter pin back in the clevis pin when finished and also the washer needs to be on the side that I showed. If you put the washer on the side that has the cotter pin, the spring will rub the wires for the brake switch and who knows what kind of code you will get for that? ( passengers side window down?) I don't know.
    Safe riding.

Very nicely done, great ideal on the spring, and the rest of your mods are impressive. Looks like your Christmas came early, and now go take a good long ride.
