    Default 1330 oil change interval

The maintenance schedule in the owners manual states that the oil should be changed every 9,300 miles. Since I changed my oil at 5,000, my assumption is that my next oil change should be at 14,300 miles on the odometer, rather than 9,300. Is this assumption correct? I just want to make sure because I am now approaching 9,200 miles on my .

    Thanks!

If you follow BRP's recommendation on 9300 oil chance intervals ... IMHO your assumption is correct..

    Default Here's what you do..!!

Add the 9,300 miles to your last mileage a oil change...like you did.. mho I would not wait that long...seeing a lot of testing and oils start fading long before that...

Lou at Pirate Powersports, who does my work and whom I trust, thinks that 5000 in climates like California, which can get very hot, is a better interval, and I tend to err on the side of caution and see him every 5000 for oil and any tires or brakes that need changing.

I've changed the oil every 5,000 on all my previous bikes. This is the first one I've ever had that recommends such long intervals. I'll probably change it sooner than what they say just to be on the safe side.

    Thanks

I believe that (given the price of these machines) it's foolish to go even 5,000 miles between oil changes regardless of what oil you use. Even without oil degradation, consider contaminants etc. On that note, I'll be changing my oil at least once yearly regardless of mileage. (I have a very limited riding season due to summer work obligations.) The bigger question IMO (for my circumstances) is: Spring or fall? Fall means fresh oil "sitting" & ready for the spring. Spring means old & oil sits/condensation separates etc...... Will probably change oil in late fall since this machine is destined to be stored inside over winter. ~ Thoughts?

Yes I agree with you TRLBLZR1. You do not want the old contaminated oil sitting in the engine & transmission for 5 or 6 months.
