If this is the "future" RT, BRP would have to improve the side case storage because the F3 funk is mich smaller than on the current RT.. Just look at the difference between the F3 Limited soft funk bag and the roller bag for the RT Limited.

And you all know about opinions, for my money the F3 touring setup is
way better looking to me than the RT, it's lower and. I have never
given a thought to getting a new Spyder however I may be hooked on the F3.
I do wish the entire line of Spyders had a better ride, my GoldWing is with out
a doubt the most comfortable bike I have ever owned, for passenger and rider.

Time to put my dog in this fight. I have the 2015 F3S and I like it. The ergonomics fits me better than the RT. I do miss the storage and ride of the RTS but on long trips I found that my knees and hips would ache after just a few hours. As far as the F3L or F3T taking over from the RT, I don't see it. There are too many owners who ride two up to drop that model. Face it, the F3 line is a single rider machine. Unless you're a young person who likes hard seats, I don't see very many riding two up on the F3. Having said that, the F3L CC might be the machine for the younger generation. The RT appeals to a wider genre of rider.
The 2016 F3 has the stricter nanny. Only because of the tow option. That is why there is no tow option available on the 2015 F3. The liability is on the owner if they want to add a hitch to a 2015 model.
The front end storage is small on the F3 because of the position of the radiators. If you all remember, the 2014 and above RT had a smaller frunk because BRP moved the battery.
Seats. While the stock seat is a bit more comfortable on the F3 vs the stock RT seat, it is not as comfortable as I would like. I may have to check in to the coast to coast seat after they've been on the road for awhile and if they'll retrofit.
Likewise the windshield. I'm hoping the taller windshield will be better than the Blue Ridge and cross to the 2015 F3S.
I have the urban rack for my F3S. IMHO, I wasted my money. It is just not big enough for much more then the tool pouch and cell phone. And not as practical as the glove box on the RT.
BRP did listen when they came out with the glove box feature on the '16 F3. I like the new mirrors. Sound system, well, I don't listen to music that much but I wouldn't mind having it for those long runs.
So, I don't believe the F3 in any variant will replace the RT.
I don't see myself jumping on a 2016 F3 anytime soon. Especially with what I owe on the one I have now.
RT changes or lack thereof, I didn't think there were going to be many if any since it went through a major change in 2014.
I still feel that the ST will go away. I see too much competition from the F3, especially given the new variants.
The RS will stay. It might get some changes next year. But it will remain the entry level that it has been.
There's going to be haters and lovers no matter what. I have seen it already in the 2016 cars and trucks coming out. Friend of mine is a car salesman, he was telling me what went down between him and a customer last week over the new 2016 trucks. Let's just say that that customer, well, he's no longer a customer.

Just swing your leg up over the back seat. it may look a little dorky mounting and dismounting, but it does solve that problem.

Said before, but, I do not think the RT is doomed. It will be at least ten years before all us owners die off.
The RT is a great machine for those who like all the comforts, luxury, and amenities that bikes like the Goldwing and the BMW GL1600 provide.
As an initial owner of a GS way back when they first came out, I tried to make mine into an RT. By the time I got it right, They introduced the 2010 RT which I then promptly bought.
There was a difference. The GS even though "decked out" properly did not ride like a tourer. It was a crotch rocket with touring stuff attached.
The upside of all this--different strokes for different folks. There is now a pretty good choice and a lot of in between things that one can choose to get the ride you want and that fits you. .

I can pretty much say with all certainty that the RT has as much chance as being phased out as the Honda Goldwing. The RT isn't going anywhere but it's really close to perfect now so like the Goldwing I wouldn't expect any big changes in the near future.
