    Default Gas mileage 2013 ST

I just decided to once again review my gas mileage. So rode 81.4 miles and used 2.03 gallons of premium. Seems high. My 08 was about 33 or so.
I had also read that most were getting around 33-35.
Anyone getting the 40+ in mileage. I'm sure of the numbers. My only concern was that the tank got filled, but the gauge shows full and it looks like I topped it off.
    Anyway, thoughts?

    Default ST GAS MILEAGE

I have a '13 ST-S. My average mpg after 2 1/2 yrs and over 23,000 miles is 30-32 mpg. My best ever was 36.4. I have never heard of anyone getting or averaging 40 mpg with the 998 engine.

When I first got my Spyder I was averaging 41 mpg, after I had the BajaRon sway bar installed I've been as low as 26 mpg to 31-33 mpg. I can be heavy on the throttle!
But it is just so much fun!!!!!!

I think you should try tracking your mileage over several fill ups to get a better idea.

One tank has too many variables to count on. On my '13 STL, I seem to be getting about 37 mpg, 2 up but not riding hard.....

    Default Sooo many variables....

RS 2012 SE...many mods but have gotten 40 a few times never less than 25 in town heavy traffic. On average 30-33 mpg. The 1330 was advertised to get the 40+ but haven't seen that either but better than the 998...so now I just pump and ryde and don't give a . Too much fun to worry about mileages...

I guess that we'll just have to see what happens with your NEXT tank of fuel...
If that one seems unusually low; then you might want to work on your re-fueling technique a bit, in order to gain a bit more consistency.

    Default fuel milage

I have a 2014 STL and I usally waite until the low fuel light comes on before I refuel. Most times that is around 170 to 190 miles and it takes about 5 gal to fill it up.I have 15,000 miles on the bike and its been pretty consistant.Thats when I am riding here in Ohio with a station on every corner. When I travel I will refuel at around 100 miles.

When traveling I start looking at 3 or 4 bars left.

I need throttle instructions it seems.... I keep records of every drop of fuel fed the beast and the miles I traveled, and over 5000 miles the composite fuel mileage is 27.8. I've never broken into the 30's.
How do you boys do that!

Well, those are the numbers. Now this was also going up Mt Lemmon for about 12 miles, average grade 4%. In addition to street riding. Coming down Lemmon not much gas used, I'd assume..anyway

Hat's off on your higher mileage. The best I could ever eke out of the 998 version was 34 mpg. The 1330 consistently brings high 30's to very low 40's for me.

I do not ride aggressive on either. The 998 gets shifted and operated in the 5000 - 5500 rpm range. It's always ready to get up and go when I want some oomph.

The 1330 is shifted and operated in the 3000 - 3500 range (unless going over 65 in 6th--then it is what it is. The lower torque on that one is always ready to get up and go, but can be improved by kicking it down one gear.

I always throw in the following: Warning, Warning, Warning, your mileage may vary.

    Default airflow

My mileage is much better now that we have the airflow panels and don't have the primary muffler ... No more gas boiling in the tank, and my Egg is quite simply running better and happier. I'm busy keeping a log of fuel/km but haven't worked it out yet so can't be any more specific at this point.

Well I really wasn't looking for kudos on the gas mileage, but wondering if I was missing something.
I think the fact that mileage may vary requires me doing this several times over to make sure I get a good average. 40 mpg seems a little too much

What did the dealer or BRP do to make it run so well and get better gas mileage?
I know, I know....we didn't buy the Spyder for gas mileage...but if it's there for the asking, I'd like more.

    Default fuel consumption

My fuel consumption greatly varies and seems dependent on my riding style as you would expect. I've gotten as low as 30 and as high as 40 mpg. The lower mileage is when I'm on the throttle a lot or higher interstate speeds. While in Texas loaded and cruising 80-85 I only got 30-32 mpg. With that said I have been pleasantly surprised with the consistent upper 30's when riding my normal style. Of course I've only ridden about 6,000 miles so far.

We are getting upper 20's to low 30's with the wife's ST unless we hit the interstate then it's low 20's . I can't ride that bike long as the blue lighs would flash
