I'm putting my Zumo and RAM Cupholder on the bars with 1" RAM balls on RAM mounts using what are in effect hose clamps around the handlebars (RAM-B-231Z-2). I also drilled a 1/4" hold in the side of each and screwed a second ball into each.
I got that done tonight. Now what to do with my Adaptiv TPX Radar Detector. On my FJR, it conveniently velcroed to the front brake master cylinder which was high enough to point out over the dash through the windshield. So it needs line of sight above the dash through the windshield on the Spyder as well. The spyder dash shelf itself isn't particularly thick & strong and, besides, it's not level so thinking I'm not going to just attach it directly on there unless I sandwhich the dash material with a RAM mount and piece of flat stock. I could RAM mount it to that JT bracket, or I could mount it to a ball on the bars with a long enough arm to reach high enough to point it over the dash. I just picture that stupid looking. Don't really want it to look like a periscope sticking up.
let's ride safe & be careful out there,
