Some great ideas folks. Can I stir the pot a little here?

Only one proponent of ketchup. I am still open to that and know people who like it.

How about styles? Chicago style and the various ingredients for the "garden?" Arizona style?

Regardless, I am getting a bit hungry for you know what.

I had that very same discussion with her...
    My winning argument?
"You don't have to heat it up until it's steaming..."
    Quickly followed by:
    "It IS named CHILLY."

    Default Help Bob D.

Maybe you can shed some light on why not ketchup? I may have a hot dog once a month, and may or may not have ketchup; usually I have mustard. After reading some of the posts, it seems that hot dogs may be a delicacy to some; not that there is anything wrong with that. But, do you use ketchup for other foods?

    Why not Ketchup?
I'll put anything on a Hot Dog, that'll get them served to me on a regular basis...

Eating Hot Dogs is NOT about "food snobbery"; it's about FUN!

I'm really glad that you brought this up!

I don't really like hot dogs that much. I only eat them when at picnics, ballparks, etc. It's the atmosphere in which they're served I like, not the dogs.

How do you feel about Bratwurst?

EDIT: I see that answer... I didn't read back far enough.

Many people prefer brats to dogs. A big deal for MN and WI folks. The name Johnsonville is pretty big there.

    I just got the word...
    "Chilly" again tonight for supper!
The dogs can wait for later on in the week!
This might be the best batch that she's ever made.
Ground beef, Black beans, (Okay; we're NOT traditionalists), tomato paste, stewed tomatoes, diced tomatoes, fresh chopped tomatoes... , mushrooms, onions, corn, A-1 sauce...
    Cayenne, jalapeno, chipotle, and horseradish!
It's got a little bit of bite to it!

I did chili on Sunday. It was a chilly day here. Crisp, fall and in the low 50's. Snow (termination dust) was on the high mountaintops.

Two meats, three beans, two tomato types, three pepper types, onions, celery, lots of seasonings including oregano, fennel and...

Now I am thinking...leftover chili on some brats....

How about brands? I have heard Nathan's, and Costco. Anyone like Hebrew National? We tried those once.

How about styles? Chicago style and the various ingredients for the "garden?" Arizona style?

Regardless, I am getting a bit hungry for you know what.

    Round 2:
I have used Costco Nathans and Hebrew National and like all three. I also Like Aidell's

When I eat a hot dog, it's not only what kind I eat, but where.

That is a pretty good endorser. And yes, the place is also important.

    Cool

When over on the other side of the pond I really enjoy a nice Dog with sauerkraut....Over here where you don't see sauerkraut
I make do with onions and hot English mustard.
I like bratwurst but I prefer German frankfurters.
