A Spyder is a safer, three wheeled motorcycle.

A Slingshot is more dangerous and more open, three wheeled car.

Aside from the number of wheels, they are strikingly different animals. Take a test ride and see what you love, but they aren't at all the same.

Test ride ,dont just drive her around, let her drive the sling shot & you ride spyder. She will be closer to ground & feel likes she's going really fast, wont enjoy the movement & feel compared to spyder. You might even have to make her whear a helmet to drive that car like thing to help her enjoy FULLY what slingshot aint. Just carefull to not cross state linesthe neighbor states might not accept it as they try to sell it! Still few rewiting laws fyi. So she knows cant just tour countryside as freely as spyder. Sure the salesman will stall on that info.

Interesting comments. It just so happens that there is a brand new Indian/Victory/Slingshot dealership in Chattanooga over near Pandora BMW.

    Crockettpowersports.com

Was over there yesterday, I think they are going to be a good customer oriented Dealership. BTW......The new Indians are very nice.

I work with a guy who has a slingshot, while riding (driving) he was caught in a rain storm and said it was quite scary as the rear end hydro planed and the wind would blow him all over the road.
Also mileage is around 23 and extremely hot on the floor with large can muffler in front of firewall and No firewall insulation or floor ventilation.
Unique looking machine but I wouldn't want one,too large over 6 feet wide

Have test drove the Slingshot and was a blast..About the same as driving a convertable car.. Good handling and good power and LOTS of looks..Dont know that I would spend 20 to 24 K on one.. Would rather have the Spyder F3 in my garage..

Rather than try to talk you out of it; I'd rather say that you've got some pretty serious decision-making to do...
You'll have to take one out for a test drive, and let us know what your impression is of it!
Happy shopping, and the best of luck to you!

    Default Slingshot has me curious!

I have a Slingshot and a Spyder as well. They are 2 completely different vehicles with the exception that they both have reverse trike design.
The YouTube video referenced was a test done with traction control and vehicle stability control disabled, I believe that the Spyder would likely do the same with both disabled.
The SS draws the amount of attention that the Spyder drew when it was 1st introduced. The SS does have the muffler in front of the firewall on the passenger side and does become very warm on hot, humid days, but not any more uncomfortable
than the Spyder in the same conditions. SS owners may be complaining of the heat but no one has complained of burns on their legs or ankles so far.
You should test ride a SS, if you can find a Dealer with 1 in stock, and form your own opinion.788397rs.jpgSpyder&Trailerresized1 - Copy.jpg

I may just go test drive one. But I do know I would rather buy an RT or F3 before a Slingslot!!! I wanna travel and the RT may fit the bill.

I own a 2013 RT LTD. I had a 2008 GS before that. I took a demo ride on a new 2014 RT when they first came out with the new 1330 engine. Recently I had a chance to ride the new Slingshot and got to test drive a demo F3 that my dealer had. All these vehicles are fun to ride. I enjoyed the slingshot. It was fun, but after getting out of it and on my RT again, I still prefer the RT over the Slingshot. Now for the fun factor! The F3 for me would be my choice. For touring though, the new RT's with the 1330's are sweet. If I had the extra cash and more garage, A new RT LTD, an F3 and a Slingshot would be a nice collection of three wheeled fun toys!

I consider the Spyder to be a three-wheeled motorcycle and the Slingshot to be a three-wheeled car. I have to desire to drive an open, three-wheeled car. Because of my legs it would be very difficult for me to get in and out of the Slingshot...and unless I'm in a race car, I want my car to be comfortable. As in AC, stereo, and a quiet interior.

The Slingshot may be for some, but certainly not for me.

If its really serious about trade the and get the SS--then a test drive (preferably long) is in order. Only you are going to know if a SS is a good replacement for your

I like them. If they sold them here (and they don't) I would probably have one of each in my garage.

I just passed my third Sling Shot in less than a month. I think they are quite cool looking. But deep down I am truly a Polaris guy anyway. It would not replace my Spyder but if the wife would let me park her Tahoe outside I would think about getting one.

I wanted one, that is until I had a chance to sit in one. Instantly knew it wasn't for me. It's no longer cool to me, and no longer gets my attention.

I'm going to be trying one out (if) Spidey sells. Not going to tease myself since I can't justify having both and market is a little soft around here on used Spidey. Still thinking it's a 3 wheeled car though so unless it 'wow's me I'll be trying to find an older R1100RT.
