    Default Harbor Freight Tag Along

    Two Trailer Questions.....
I have a New 2015 RTS with a dealer installed BRP trailer hitch and wiring harness.
I am getting ready to purchase a Harbor Freight Tag Along trailer.
    Question #1 -
The wiring harness od the Spyder ends a 4 prong square plug under the left luggage compartment and the trailer has is a 4 prong flat connecter... What do I need to put them together, I do not want to upset any "applecarts"??????
    Question #2 -
is for those who removed the trailer hitch when they are not using it.... Exactly where and how do you remove it?????

Thanks in advance for any guidance......

    Regarding Question #1:
But for #2; your dealer should have given you the installation instructions that came with the hitch kit. Give them a call, and track that paperwork down.

#1. When I had an after market trailer, I made a "jumper" that had a square four pin plug one one end (bike side) and a flat four pin (trailer side) that I used to connect the two. I didn't want to cut into the trailer harness.

#2. Although it's pretty easy to remove the hitch, it's definitely more convenient to leave it on. I bought a black, ball cover ( from an RV dealer) for two dollars and it dresses up the back end.

Making an adapter as explained above is easy enough. Someone posted the other day that they cut the flat 4 connector in half. Zip tied the 2 halfs together and it fits in the square 4 connector.

Got this info from another spyder rider. You can build your own with the parts found on ebay. The website was lionparts_powersports They called it Hopkins 11147975 4 Pole Square Set With shipping was less than 10 bucks. This worked very well.

    Default Tag Along

#1 ) I made a jumper that converts the 4 square to a flat 4 , the parts are easly found at a NAPA store.

#2 ) Easer to just leave the hitch on.

BTW we have 3 trailers, the most recent purchase was a Tag Along and after a few modifacations worked really great for us on a 4 day trip with 3 adults and a child , hauled all our gear needed including sleeping bags as we stayed in KOA camping cabins this time around. We usualy pull a Aspen tent trailer.

You can buy the other 4 pin adapter at walmart or auto store and build your own.

You can do one of two things Replace the four square female plug on the wiring harness that comes with the kit with a flat four wire female plug or replace the flat male end on the trailer with a square male plug. The four square plug is available on Amazon Hopkins #11147975 four pole square set for $6.40. I replaced the female end on the wiring harness because I have the Harbor Freight trailer and also have a tent trailer that I haul. This way I can change trailers with fewer problems. Most trailers are wired with the flat plug. I had to do some quick changes coming home from Spyderfest. I picked up a trailer for a friend with messed up wiring to bring back. Ended up buying a set of magnetic trailer lights and spliced into the wiring harness on the bike. Now I can hook-up either way. Your choice on what to do.

.....With the Amazon plug as He got........But I would just ADD IT to the trailer wiring END and leave the FLAT FOUR there also......This way you can tow it with the Spyder or your CAR ....................just a thought........Mike

One more thing on the TagaLong, replace all the incandescent bulbs with LEDs, they'll lower the currant draw, and probably last ten times as long. Also, check the wiring on the tagger, I ended up soldering and heat shrink tubing everything on mine, the Scotch lock splicers it came with caused a lot of shorts to ground.
