I would really appreciate your expertise and information. I have a 2014 Limited and am considering having a hitch installed. I have checked the Dealer price of $500 plus and have seen them for sale on ebay for less than half that price. Also, I have read you will lose your warranty if an off brand is installed. I would really appreciate your input. Thanks Cagey (kg)

Let's start with the warranty thing. Nowhere does BRP say that you will lose your warranty if you use an aftermarket hitch. That I know of anyway. What they do say is their hitch will maintain the warranty. Well I would hope so! On the other hand whatever you bolt, stick, glue or weld to your Spyder could cause a problem and BRP should not be responsible for that. So you have to decide what will happen.
Aftermarket hitch you are probably looking at will be the hitch and that's it. No wiring harness or mudflap. What you get from BRP is a complete kit. So you have to look at the total cost and judge from there.
This is a $30,000 or so vehicle... why is it about the money now?
Because there is very little money left over???????
2014 Copper RTS
Tri-Axis bars, CB, BajaRon sway bar & shock adjusters, SpyderPop's Bumpskid, NBV peg brackets, LED headlights and modulator, Wolo trumpet air horns, trailer hitch, custom trailer harness, high mount turn signals, Custom Dynamics brake light, LED turn signal lights on mirrors, LED strip light for a dash light, garage door opener, LED lights in frunk, trunk, and saddlebags, RAM mounts and cradles for tablet (for GPS) and phone (for music), and Smooth Spyder belt tensioner.
We recently purchased a BRP hitch for our 2014 RT and then paid the dealer to install it for us. In my opinion, the hitch is a quality made item and clearly designed to work seamlessly with our Spyder. We are very pleased with it as well as with our dealers workmanship! To me, it was well worth the investment and piece of mind.

I think I paid $270 in labor for the kit's installation. Dropped it off, did some farkle shopping and then had lunch at the Jack Stack's BBQ down the street. I just wasn't comfortable doing it myself (nor was my wife, lol) and I would much rather ride on my free time than tackle a project for which I am not prepared. Just me.
BRP likes to scare us with the phrase "Only one that does not void warranty" prusades us to only buy BRP. They would have to prove that what ever you used caused damage first,(if any thing went wrong & you try to claim warranty). Growing propritay in corprations. Not just a suggestion to buy our stuff but ONLY our stuff works poor monopoly .
I just got off the phone with my dealer and the cost of installing a BRP hitch is $489 for the hitch and @ $140 in labor. So $629 total. Seems like a lot. They are claiming to give me a 10% discount on the hitch. There is not a lot of hardware in the hitch. I think I will let them do it tho' I will fab-up my own trailer. I'd like to look at the factory trailer first. No use to re-invent the wheel.
It says nothing about a warranty being voided. Constantly repeating that BRP says that your warranty will be voided if you don't use their hitch is nothing but fear mongering. What is does say is and I quote "Only system on the market that maintains vehicle warranty requirements " Again nothing about voiding warranty.

I never stated that your warranty will be voided if you don't use their hitch, nor am I "fear mongering". You asked for the link, and I provided it. Interpret it as you wish.
