    Smile Fuel Pump noise

Took my 2014 RTL in last week for first service. Tech said that my fuel pump needed to be replaced. Headed back to dealership tomorrow for fuel pump replacement. Service tech tell me that this removal and install with take 5 to 6 hours. Anyone had this done before? Is fuel pump inside motor? Never read repair manual, have no ideal. Any comments? Thanks in advance.

    In the tank.

That makes sense. Wasn't thinking when I ask that question. Not a blonde, just not thinking that one through. Sorry!

Just picking on ya. Most fuel injection pumps are in the tank and require fuel on them for cooling. Most times a sensor will shut down the machine before the tank is empty to prevent pump burn out. Good luck.

Had mine replaced. They had it for a few days as I dropped it off early. Easy fix. Will be quite when you get it back or should I say "should be"

    Default Bummer..!!

they did have a batch of noisy fuel pumps but will change them out no charge. It is a pain to be without the roadster but hope they get on it quickly and your back on the road soon...

Mine is noisy when the bike is cold but my dealer said that he has replaced more than one and the replacement was just as noisy.

Yep! Lots quiter. Bought bike with less than 1000 miles on it and when I test drove the unit I knew the sound was somewhat louder but Hey it was my first experience with the 1330 motor and I was deeply in LOVE. Looking forward to a ride tomorrow.

It is interesting - some dealers replace the noisy pump without question while others (like mine) say the noise is normal. I must admit mine has gotten quieter now that I have about 3K on it - or I've gotten more used to it.

Got mine replaced also, started been noisy during a 400 KM ride, when i brought it in to the dealer a few days later, they could not recreate since it had cooled down.
They changed it anyway and now the noise has not come back during rides yet.
