Abbot, that's very ambitious for your first Iron Butt more power to you . We my wife and I did our first Iron Butt last year coming home from Spyderfest.
We did 1056 in 17 hours from Springfield Mo to Castle Rock Co we averaged 62 mph by the end of the night I could no longer twist the throttle. Stay hydrated
and remember you don't get much time to recover... Wishing you a safe trip

I have done several documented Iron Butt rides... one recommendation I may offer... if you find yourself getting tired/sleepy and are having trouble reading/understanding road signs... S T O P ....... there will be another day to accomplish a Iron Butt ride ..

I done it. Arthur and I did 8236 miles in lest than 240 hrs with about 12 hrs to spare. AWESOME RIDE. Average speed 64 mph, 127 hrs 55minutes 10 seconds. I am putting all the paperwork together to send to the Iron Butt association. Weather was good and no major breakdown.
