2015 Dash Gauges have new connectors

Just started to change out the gauges on my new 2015 RTL and found out that i will need different connectors (and a longer wire)

here is a photo of the new connector, (previously 4 wires now 3 wires)

Those are the little changes never mentioned. Sometimes I think they watch what we do and change it to mess us up..or see how we skirt it... after all we are the final test...

2015 Gauges will not fit pre 20125 Spyders now.


What else did they change that we don't know about yet????

Actually Joe the new connector is a good thing. One shouldn't use these wires to power other gauges because of the way it interfaces with the cluster. If one is going to add new gauge functions the should use an aux fuse block and hook it up per the directions of the new gauge. This is the safest approach and won't effect the computers.

Well actually on the old gauges you could use ground and the 12V line that power the light bulb in the gauge. That did not go through the cluster.

But with these new gauges it appears that is now gone so I agree.... Don't try to use those!

Well i used the hot (red) wire and the ground (black) wire to power the Volt Meter and so far it works. Any real reason to be concerned???

Remember that BRP. like any manufacturer, does not make every part that goes into their equipment. They do planned buys from OEM suppliers. At some point the OEM will change their designs for various reasons (including THEM not being able to get connectors, parts, etc.). So..... I'll take the answer that this was not to hack anyone off on purpose. I'm betting is was just a supplier change.

I agree, i was just passing on info, any reason i should not use the power and ground for the in dash volt meter??

What power and ground? The one from the new gauge connector?
I would say NO unless you can confirm there is a 12V line that is not going through the cluster!
I bet these new gauges have gone to a LED to light them thus no longer requiring a dedicated 12V line to power the bulb like the old gauges had.

I'm with Bob, Joe. It might be possible, but..... To be safe, and I know this is a lot of work, take the frunk off, exposing the battery and other wiring. find or add a good 12v source (FUSED), and snake it up to the dash.
