First ever e-x-t-e-n-d-e-d ryde!!
We plan to leave Zephyrhills, FL on May 8, spend a couple of nights with g'dgtr in Tallahassee. Then, on toward California!!! Plan to follow the coast down into Tx, then the Rio Grande, up into west Tx, and on to other sites!!
Any "gotta see", "gotta ryde" suggestions? (Other than the Toilet Seat Museum outside of San Antonio!!)
No schedule, no itinerary. Ryde til 60% of our budget is gone - figure we can make it home on 40%!!! Any folks in areas we might hit who could put us up and show us some rydes?
Sure would appreciate it. Much more fun to visit with folks who share interests than the motel desk clerks!!!
Thx

I'm sure you'll get all sorts of sight-seeing recommendations. So I will just say, "Good for you!" I would love to travel without itinerary and just go. Though I've traveled on my Spyder, I've always had somewhere I had to be by a certain date and had to limit my stops along the way. Then I would find out there were things I'd like to have seen, but couldn't. I'm envious.

Gotta see... "The Alamo" and the "Riverwalk" in San Antonio
Gotta eat... "Casa Rio" it is the first business established on the Riverwalk (1946). It has indoor dining and outside patio dining. It's located about 2 blocks from the Alamo. Good food and reasonable prices. I recommend ordering the "Casa Rio Deluxe" dinner. http://www.casa-rio.com
Gotta ride... 3 Sisters (aka Twisted Sisters) RR335, RR336 and RR337. It is a 100 mile loop in the Texas Hill Country. http://www.hillcountrycruising.com/the3s.html
When do you think you will be passing through San Antonio?

I am thinking to retire in 8.5 years at Zephyr hills, FL. My mother-in law resides in that town, and she loves it. I will visit her sometime in Aug.

If you make it as far as Tucson, stop by the Pima Air & Space Museum with a tour of the aircraft boneyard. Also in Tuscon, is the Saguaro National Park. Very cool places, at least in this New England boy's opinion.
