    Default Leaking Elka Shocks

Got a new set of front shocks installed by dealer. Enjoyed a 1155 mile long weekend ride. Have ridden it a few other times since and now I notice one of the shocks is leaking.

Any ideas what my solutions are? My idea is to have another shock sent out and I (or dealer) swap them and I send the bad shock back. Otherwise I'm stuck without a bike for a month or more.

    Thanks

    Default For sure..!!

Check with our sponsor home page for elkas or directly with them. They should get you one and send your leaking shock back so they can see what the problem is. These cost a pretty penny and should not leak...

Ya, that's what I figured on doing. Calling them tomorrow and hoping for a quick solution.

    Default OEM Shocks

Do you syill have the shocks that came with your Spyder? My Elka shock leaked also. I Purchased in July of 2014. Put about 7000 miles on them. This spring I had a leaker.
I contacted Elka directly. They sent me to Impact Solutions in West Virginia. There are 2 authorized Elka service centers in the USA. 1 in West Virginia and 1 in California.
I sent mine to West Virginia, they handled the warranty paper work. I also sent the other non leaking shock for rebuild. I wanted them to act/react same if you know what I mean. $85 for the rebuild of the second shock including shipping both ways, leaking shock was free of course.
I was without the shocks for about 1-1/2 weeks but I reinstalled my factory shocks so I could ride it. Only about 20 minutes to swap them out.

    Default Leaking Elka Shocks

Where is the service center in California?

Also there is a main frame piece that runs the length of the bike. Can I lift anywhere on that? I have a floor jack.

    Thanks

Did you purchase them from Pittbull? If so they took care of you that is just real good customer service. I purchased directly from Elka.

If you go to Elka's website it tells you were the authorized service centers are. I just read your last post it sounds like you figured out how/were to jack it up. Hope you get them back quickly.

Do you still have the OEM shocks?

I plan to put the Fox shock on until the Elka is fixed. The Fix shocks started sagging at 10k miles. Because an A arm bushing went bad I decided to get that fixed and have the Elka's installed as well. The shocks on my Goldwing lasted 50-60 k miles before I noticed a softer ride. I replaced the rear at 72k miles. For a single rider I didn't need beefier than OEM.
