Just retired 2 weeks ago 1st April 2015 after 35yrs service with the Fire and Rescue Service in the
Royal County of Berkshire approx 40mils west of London Covering major towns in the
South East – Newbury, Reading, Bracknell, Maidenhead, Windsor inc Windsor Castle,
Slough just outside Heathrow Airport (London International Airport)

Worked as a Fire-fighter Controller (You call them dispatchers) dealing with all emergencies via our 999 System like your 911 System

Was due to retire in Dec 2015 on my 60th Birthday but decided to go now to to take advantage of the Spring and Summer months – Better weather to be out on a Spyder

Decided having worked all that time it was time to take a well earned rest and treat myself by replacing my existing Spyder RT – S SE5 2010 Model for a Base Model RT SE6 2015 Model

Visited the London Dealer GS Jet Tech 3 Weeks ago and a deal was done
My new Spyder RT SE6 arrived on Monday and today they were starting the build – Having them fit some extras -
LED Bump-skid, Bajaron Swaybar, Elka shocks, and some LED's etc.
Had most of them on my existing Spyder and wanted them on my new Spyder

Hopefully the Spyder will be with me later this week or sometime next week, Looking forward
to having more trips out now I have the time – Clear diary only the odd holiday to take now
    and again

Great to read others views on retirement - Happy to be a member now

USAF, 15 years DOD contractor. I was part of the Intelligence gathering arm of the USAFSS. I was a electronic tech for the DOD contractor (F16). Job went to Mexico--they wanted me to go with it--said NO and quite. That was 1995. 5 years later, wife's job was going to Colorado--she said NO and we made out move to Sequim. Have been here for the past 15 years in retirement. Loving every minute of it!!! I am coming up on my 67th birthday. Life is grand!!

Took an early retirement from work as a facilities planner for public park and recreation departments. (18 months early, in 2012).

Pension was reduced by 7.5% (5% per year before 62). Was careful with spending the first year until I had confidence that my financial planning was correct (it was). Too many people I knew were either passing away on the job or retiring due to ill health, wanted the opportunity to enjoy retirement , so....

Built a retirement home in the mountains of North Georgia, now can see kids and grandson whenever we want, ride Synthia most the year and generally enjoy life .

Current: "Scarlett", 2017 Can Am F3-T, SE6, Intense Red Pearl.
BRP heated grips, DIY brake light strip and turn signal strips, Chrome/LED brake light tag frame, SpyderPops bumpskid, Baja Ron swaybar and billet links, Lamonster Third Peg, BRP Adjustable Passenger Backrest, SpyderPops Missing Belt Guard, ShowChrome oversize brake pedal, TricLED foglights.

Ron, when I was in business for myself, I used to joke that "The secret to success is working half days." ...and the beauty of it is that it doesn't matter much which 12 hours you put in.

I retired in 2006 after 22 years with Uncle Sam as civilian. Worked in Quality Assurance watch dogging contractors 7 years with the Army and 15 with Dept of Energy. I have a mixed opinion of corporate contractors. They range all the way from outstandingly competent to utterly incompetent and crooked, most being somewhere near the midpoint leaning toward the latter.

I started from college in 1967 working in the Navy Nuclear program as a Mechanical Engineer in Idaho and Pennsylvania. From there went to Corning Glass to the factory that made Pyrex. Remember the Pyrex bowls your mother loved? I helped make them for a year or so. After that I had a series of jobs; Mech Engr at a steel mill machinery manufacturer, then at a fertilizer manufacturer back in Idaho, then owned and operated my own small printing business for four years, then managed a small print shop, then tried selling life insurance and mutual funds which was a total flop. Moved to Illinois and sold and then serviced photocopiers. Part of that time was spent trying to sell a mini computer based CAD (computer aided drafting) system which the market didn't want to buy. After that is when I got a job with the Army. Moved to Louisiana in 1991 to work at DOE. Job security kept me with Uncle for 22 years!

Just before I retired I bought a new 2005 Honda Goldwing for my retirement gift. Increase in house value in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina paid for it! I retired on June 30, 2006 and had a U-Haul truck reserved for July 10 to move back home to Idaho. The most gratifying immediate benefit of retiring and moving back to Idaho was I got to spend coffee and lunch times and camping time with my eight years older brother for 1 1/2 years before he passed away. Sold the GW a year ago to pay for my Spyder which I bought 4 months earlier in November 2013.

Default I was very lucky, generally, I had great bosses and fantastic jobs . . . .

. . . . retired at 55 in 2004 from the Oil, Refining, Plastics Industry - mostly Information Technology positions. In another century, I was also a teacher and a freelance artist.

To paraphrase Bill Watterson, " Life is just packed! "

Retired in Sept. 1992 from local fire dept as a firefighter/paramedic. Retired again in Nov. 2005 as a paramedic trainer/ firefighter from another small fire dept. Retired the last time from teaching emergency medicine at a large teaching hospital. These three positions ran concurrently for the last few years of each. Retirement is great, but how did I have time to work?

I retired in July after 30 years of teaching Agriculture Education in a high school in Lancaster County, PA - the Garden Spot of the world!! My husband retired from Verizon as a Planning Engineer about 3 years ago. He rides a Kawasaki Voyager and I bought my 2011 Viper Red Spyder last May to see if I would like it and I haven't looked back!!! On our rides we have a friendly competition as to whose bike will get the most oogles.... my Spyder usually wins !!

After nearly 10 years in USN as electronic technician and 14 years with USPS, I entered into retirement, if I can call it that. Just don't have to report to anyone other than wife.

I was a Chief Infirmation Officer at a large public utility. Prior to that I was Los Angeles Police Officer. I walked a plain clothes foot beat on skid row in downtown Los Angeles. After that I taught in the graduate business program at University of California Riverside. I retired 10 years ago at age 55.
