gopro hd on spyder

This is not a question of where to mount it. I'm wondering if someone has used the gopro to take stills, and how they may compare to point and shoot digital cameras. I have the original gopro hd, and use it to shoot videos. I have had very little usage as a still camera, which is why I'm looking for someone with more time shooting stills. I was thinking of purchasing the fuji XP80 for an upcoming trip, and then thought maybe the gopro would be alright for stills. I do have a Lumix FZ35, but looking for something more compact. Just wondering about others experiences.

By the way, I'm talking about shooting stills once off the spyder.

i shoot more stills then video with the gopro 2.
i use the gopro app to see what i'm shooting.
no complains.

Use my Gopro for both stills and video! It takes a 12 mp pic that is very sharp and depending on the settings, the wide angle makes landscape look very cool. When you do not want to carry a lot of equipment the Gopro is very capable of doing the job.

between the cell phone (if you have one with good camera) and a go-pro you should be covered in the still and video department. The only difference would be the flash if needed. Thats where the cell phone comes in...

No flash on my cell phone. But, Caveman put me on to a flash set up for the gopro.

They are fairly expensive.

Much appreciated. Yes they are expensive, but it sure makes the Gopro an all around camera.

I did get the SIDEKICK duo light. The only problem is where I can use it. Even when using just the lowest output light, you could probably burn someone's retina. So, it's either good for underwater pictures or taking pictures of scenery. Or, if you hike and you need a light, this will do the job.

I am using this camera on my RT.

The nice thing about this great quality camera is the watch that is installed on the left side on my handlebar.

I can watch what I am shooting in real time and take videos and pictures (also at the same time if needed).

I had a GoPro before and used to take long boring videos since I didn't have a real control on it so I started it and let it go for 30-40 minutes till the battery will die. Many times we came home after a nice ride look at the video and just saw the sky since we didn't really know what we are shooting.

With this camera I take only 1-2 minutes videos when I want and take picture along the ride directly from my watch on the handlebar and I know what I am shooting.
